Replying To Seanfan:  "Intermediate Championships are usually the most competitive."
It wasn't a bad result then for the Intermediate team from leinster to beat the Connacht senior champions.

Full credit to Kerry deserving league,Munster and AI champions.Kerry were relaxed and focused and raised the tempo from the start. Donegal seemed a bit on edge and caught in the headlights though i rate them highly.Brendan Mc Cole trying to intimidate DC at the start was just symptomatic of this and only served to encourage DC to step it up.Dont know why referees tolerate this type of behaviour.Do the rules not apply before the game starts?A defender trying to muscle out an opponent and then being left for dead during the game is almost comical.

Replying To Liftball:  "First of all congratulations to Kerry on a excellent attacking display and all Ireland win, they have some forward line but for me Joe O'Connor has the grit and fight and dog work that allows the class of others to shine, brilliant team they are. On the whole championship I am a bit all over the place regarding it, yes there are far more scores but there was 11 knock out games and there was 8 that where comfortable wins or even hammerings, I don't think that's a good look and as the season went on there was more hammerings I'd say this is a sign of things to come, last year I'd argue outside the final the games where generally of a good quality and also alot closer, yes something needed to change but I have always thought they went way overboard with changes and now we have more sandbox games trialing more changes! I just wish they would stop. I know I'm in the minority but the game isn't the same and I'm not sure for me if it's changed for the better, first of all they chopped and changed the rules throughout the championship which is a joke, another is most of our games are in late winter and spring which when in Ireland will always have mixed weather, I liked the idea of the 2 pointers but for me I seen too many games influenced by wind which isn't what should be happening, I don't like that rte is filled with members of the FRC constantly saying how great the rules are we don't seem to get anyone on who can be objective about them, the game has swung from being overly defensive to the rules being way too far in the attacking teams favour, for me and iv said all year we needed 1 or maybe 2 rule changes, the 3 up v 4 back and keeper can't touch in his own half was enough to change the game for the better without everything else, the kick out having to go beyond d the mark is silly as the rule that the goalie can't get a back pass would give teams a reason to push up as it stops a kick out to the corner back and straight back to the goalie which is what was happening last year, and the 4v3 would give the room for attackers to move and get space, i would rather a 0-16 to 0-15 tight game anyday over the big scoring hammering we have and I think will see going forward"
The new rules in general have been a great success, but I do agree completely that they have gone a little too far in one aspect.

The rule changes around the goalkeeper were too severe. I think once you cut out the goalie receiving the ball back at all, that you no longer require the kick out to go beyond the 40m arc, outside the old arc was enough.

Now a team can have a strong breeze, kick two pointers at ease, and they can really push the kickout. Its leading to too much of a swing in games.

It may be workable on a calm day, but if you are kicking out into a gale force wind its unfair. It's survivable for intercounty keepers who have a good skill set. Galway changed their keeper at half time against Donegal in March for this very reason, which was harsh on the lad being replaced. Now imagine if that was a club keeper. At least if his teammates were able to work the space to get a shorter option off, it would be much fairer all round. One bad half could ruin a young club keeper. We'll go back to the days where no one will want to be a goalkeeper, and the innovative skills will disappear. We are blessed in the country now with football players goalkeepers, Morgan, Beggan, Patton and Rafferty in Ukster alone. Do we want these type of players to disappear, is that in the best interest of the game?

Just tweak the rule that if a player receives a kick out inside the 40, he must be outside that 40 when the ball is kicked.

Allows teams to press, but gives the defensive team a chance to retain ball if they have a fast defender who can turn and go past his man.

Can't go back to the short 10m kick out again

Replying To brayballer:  "I have made no secret of my dislike of Donegal and yesterday confirmed it even more. They had to be called a few times to join the parade showing no respect and then they broke away from the parade half way around. The parade is part of the occasion but once again Donegal have to be different and let down the fans"
Were you asleep in the 2013 All Ireland Final when Dublin broke away from the parade BEFORE the Hill against Mayo?

Or are you just a hypocrite?

He has tinted glasses on as far as Donegal goes. He has an anti Donegal agenda. He was probably in Wicklow in 2013.
