the line out will be interesting after the lay-off and if we have a full squad to pick from

Great result for the lads last night, after a long lay off they seemed to click into gear in the 2nd half. I could only listen to it on the radio unfortunately, but it seemed we really improved after a good start followed by a bit of a lull.

A very entertaining game in the Park last night. Our lads looked really good in attack (2 -24 is a serious score)) but we looked faily open at the back for periods in the 1st half. Having said that, Longford looked like a completely different outfit to what we seen a few weeks ago in the league.
The lads worked some great scores, including both goals, and N Hughes ( who was brilliant last night) 2 x 2pointers in second half were immense.
Good to have almost everyone back although G Malone is still a big loss.

suppose ud have to be happy with that, its a win but we struggled to put them away for a long time but pulled away in the end but we need to remember longford are one of the worst teams in the country, 13 wides is 50% to many, but we got 2/3 of our injured men back on the pitch, 2/3 still out but over all it was a good result, onwards to carlow, but the big test of where we stand will be v fermanagh

Yeah to be fair think it was rustiness more than anytning last night.

Hopefully that brings them on a but, we finished stronger whereas in previous games we looked to be fading towards the end.

Bigger tests ahead but a good start if not great.

The new rules have changed everything in football, we scored more in the football than we did in hurling, the Leinster and Ulster finals, great games. The scoring rate in some games is unreal with teams now forced into attack football. The levels of fitness now needed is off the charts. I am not sure the 2pt will survive as it will create a lot of arguments in club football and if it does the goalkeeper touching it and its a 1pt will have to go - with no neutral umpires that will be a mess. Just having kids watching thoes hight scoring games will be a boost for the game even if they are other counties playing. Unfortunately some in the hurling only community will see it as a threat and not realise that the more kids we have palying football will mean the more we have playing hurling.

Lads on the fringes of the hurling squads might become better hurlers if they are playing top level football, once they stay hurling at home an hour a day while they are at it.

Important that we don't fall asleep for periods like we did in the Longford game. Carlow will be full of confidence after their win in Fermanagh.
They will have home advantage and are bound to have a huge crowd behind them. Their new manager Joe Murphy has them playing much better than they did in the league when cake was involved.
We must take them seriously and if we do I believe we will win.
Sean Nolan adds punch to the forwards. He is a serious player and adds depth to that sector.
As we are now a 3rd division side we should have the ability to come out of Dr Cullen park with 2 points in the bag and top the table.

Was good to see Higgins feature the last day also. Lad has serious potential. Might be too soon for Glen Malone. Hopefully we get a good crowd of us up there to support the lads.

A strange game today. Carlow looked really lively from the start, they seemed to play all the football but we were level after 15 minutes. We rode our luck with Carlow missing 3 good goal chances in first half, and somehow we were 2 up at half time. Very unlucky with injuries though, losing Gav Sheehan, Pettitt & Tom byrne before half time.
Took a while to settle in second half but eventually got on top, went 6 up with 10 minutes left and should have wrapped it up when Liam o Connor missed a glorious chance late on.
I was impressed with Carlow, there's been a huge improvement under a new manager in last few weeks.

It was a disappointing result considering we looked home & dry with a few minutes left, but on the overall performance I think it was the least Carlow deserved.
Onwards to Fermanagh now in 2 weeks, hopefully some of the injuries might not be as bad as feared.

If parnell Park hadn't been vandalised I'd say it would have been used.

Hope not portlaoise, tullamore or mullingar be more halfway
