Replying To Doylerwex:  "I get exactly that feeling all the time.

The last time I really felt it was Kilkenny in the park 23. The collective will of the support would have brought a tear to a glass eye."
Yet there weren't that many of us there that day. The atmosphere was electric!

This in itself shows how low our goals are. Tears for winning a Round Robin match.

To be fair I don't think our goal at the beginning of any season since pre Liam Dunne era is to just survive, but that was the situation we found ourselves in and that day was a massive relief rather than triumph.

Kilkenny wanted to bury us and for 20 odd minutes it looked like they would.

That was pure duty that day, Liam McCarthy status on the line, it really was backs to the wall stuff and I think the supporters were at least going to die with their boots on. I've mentioned before a remark by one of the Tyrone backroom, who said following a visit to Wexford Park for a football game that it was 'tribal' it certainly was that day.

I did not look forward to that game but felt if you cared, you HAD to be there and in fairness the team really showed up.

That the day lives in Richie Hogan's head as a career regret is notable too!

None of us wanted to be in the situation we were that day, staring relegation of the Leinster Championship in the face, watching results in Antrim for a glimmer of hope and feeling almost nauseous at the prospect of Kilkenny wielding the sword. It wasn't a day that anyone relished but it was an emotive one, status on the line, backs to wall stuff.

You know I'm convinced that if you won the lottery you'd complain about having to drive to Dublin.

Exactly! Avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth and Dancing at the Crossroads comes on! I had Kilkenny friends cringing for us that day!

Funny thing is they've no Idea how many were there that day. They opened the gates on the uncovered side when throw in was delayed.

As emotional as I was that day, even I thought dancing at the crossroads was a bit much

Absolutely. My wife was heavily pregnant at the time and decided not to go. When she saw the crowds and the buzz then she felt she'd a responsibility to be there for the team. I said before that's when my young lad's name was chosen based on a very specific moment.

These are the same people who are going to bring the next generation of Liam McCarthy winners to Wexford, 2 hurling sessions a week, and one based on the history of Pikemen and Larry O

Replying To wexford2012:  "Every time we see a big crowd from Wexford making there way to Croke Park for example, I find it incredibly moving as I get a visceral sense of continuity with our past and specifically the 1798 Rebellion when we were literally a 'risen people' and as Seamus Heaney said in his famous 'Croppy' poem we were "A people hardly marching... on the hike...".
I realise that for many this may have little meaning but for me its part of what Wexford is and means. Now I would make sure my kids understand it but I don't think I'd talk about it with the children I'm coaching - I think though you should seek to raise their horizons, to point to others in the club, today or in the past, who have achieved great things and suggest that they too can do the same."
Those drives to Croke park for a Leinster final or all Ireland semi final are special . I crave those days for us again

I can't wait until I actually achieve my goals. You and your club will share in it as well.

How many club mates do you have with three all stars and an all Ireland medal?

Are you suggesting our members shouldn't look up to him?

Some of the KK players got a good laugh out of it tbh.
