County champions are in "bonus territory"! If that phrase instead of talking up the opposition is accurate!
With all the talk of new rules etc. over recent months and the need for "vertical football", have some teams been taking note and possibly going into games with more intent to attack? There has been a good trend of positive football anyway since the inter provincial experiment. Maybe a coincidence.

I think instead of a required "20-40" kick at the kickout, I'd rather "vertical football" included a "45-65" kick out of defence - would've broken up the "basketball-style" procession approaching midfield.

Hope we're not just rearranging chairs on the Titanic, and artificially trying to rescue a struggling game. Hopefully whatever changes are made will improve Gaelic football. Always thought the advanced mark was a ridiculous recent implementation. Meanwhile, I thoroughly enjoyed Ireland/NZ, Wales/Fiji and Boks/Scotland in the oval ball game this weekend.

Yes, I too find rugby union quite entertaining, which I mostly attribute to the rule changes in recent decades (release of ball makes the game so fluid).

We need to up the entertainment in gaelic football too, by any means necessary. Most contested balls follow risky lengthy kick passes, which teams will mostly not take unless the reward is there or is "forced by rule".
I consider my "45-65" kick as modest - but we all have our opinions.

There is a mark for fielding kick out going beyond the 45. The goalkeeper passing rules is to stop the piggy in the middle possession approach.
The 45-65 seems very artificial. Cannot see that being a runner.

I want to see a long kicking game - call it artificially contrived or not as you like - some call it old-style "hoofing the ball down field" - I want to be entertained by gaelic football, no matter how - Aussie Rules is so much more exciting - with high fielding, long kicking and plenty of rough & tumble, a series of hand passes doesn't look like it's taking from the spectacle.

I'm just saying remove the "artificial" 20-40 GAA kick out - go short, quick restart instead - and then a required "45-65" with a contest in midfield - I'd like to see it, but I agree it's not being considered.

Again, when I make points - it's more my "wish" than what I feel can get approved.

It will be some craic if Donegal win the All Ireland next year with Michael Murphy playing under the new rules he helped create!
Looking forward to the league now to see what the new rules will look like in practice.

You think Aussie rules is exciting? I can't stand it myself.

Ireland vs NZ was a poor advertisement for rugby union, many in the attendance left early or indulged themselves at the bar regularly, it was incredibly annoying for the genuine supporters and on occasions tensions ran high between the two types of fans. The game was stop start, scums took an age, too much kicking and the wingers on the Irish side never received an attacking pass. Disappointing fare overall

Might be true, hard to know without seeing it in operation.
Problem is if only rule change keeping 3 players up is implemented and there is still some issues with the game will we be able to get agreement for the additional rule changes in 12 months time?.

All a matter of perception. Today's game between England and South Africa is an absolute cracker! Professionalism has definitely improved rugby as a spectacle.

Overpaid coaches who travel long distances for expenses only and have to get results
Perhaps if Coaches could only be selected from ones own County and Club Coaches from the local Club area it would remove a lot of concern that some Coaches are asking / get more than ??.
I know it would be difficult to Police"
Players can be selected from their own county, only. Why is it different for managers? A change of rule here would solve a lot of problems.

I agree in principle with what you are saying. However coaching for weaker counties should be allowed. These coaches qualifications should have to be approved by the GAA. Reasonable expenses approved and paid for by the GAA.
