Bank Holiday June Sunday if my memory serves me right. I was listening to it on LMFM.

Most memorable matches for me are 1974 All Ireland semi final when Dublin beat Cork. Had been in Croke Park for Dublin hurling league games and club championships but that was first big day. Other great days in 2011, 2015 etc for footballers and of course hurlers winning League in 2011 and Leinster 2013.

Best games probably in football were any of 5/6 Dublin Mayo including the ones lost in 2006 - amazing match - and 2012.

Hurling would have to be I think the 2012 drawn final between Galway and Cats. Was not far away from Canning for the levelling point. Tipp/Cats 2009 was great too.

Down v Kildare All Ireland semi final in 2010. It was a great occasion and a brilliant match. Down were winning by 2 points in injury time when Kildare got a 14 yard free that it looked almost impossible to score a goal from but a terrific shot for Kildare was pushed on the bar by Down and Down made the final by the narrowest of margins. Very dramatic ending to a great match. Down got lucky with their goal from Benny Coulter which was a clear square ball missed by the officials while the Kildare player O'Callaghan I think it was may have taken too many steps before the Kildare goal. It was a very exciting match that always seemed on a knife edge right until the final whistle.

That 2013 Dublin team really missed a golden opportunity. There was an all Ireland in them if they didn't have to play so many replays in Leinster.

Donegal v Dublin 2014.

Donegal weren't given a hope and completely stunned the Dubs in the second half. Was a double for the Tirconaill men as the minors beat Dublin beforehand and half the county had the double backed at long odds.

Left Ireland more than 30 years ago and while I return frequently it's rarely during Championship time
Last time in Croke Park was Limerick losing to Wexford in 1996
Most memorable game was Limerick beating Cork in 1980 Munster Final in Thurles
I am sure it wasn't but I remember it as a hot sunny day, Cork were favourites and had a hoodoo sign over Limerick for years. We had Joe McKenna in his pomp, Eamonn Cregan still close to his best, some others from 1973 (Foley) and newer stars like Ollie O Connor and Jimmy Carroll. We were quite a bit better than them but still only won by 4.
AI final defeat to Galway that year was a big let down
