Well done to your father, it can't have been easy, but I think you both turned out well. You Dad did a great job. Is he still with you?

It would be nice if we can win a game or two. I believe we will influence what three comes from Munster. I won't begrudging Limerick making history. I don't agree with Davy that the league doesn't matter. We have a habit of playing down to the opposition and the history is there to prove that. He should be kicked out for making such a statement while the little clubs will have to make up the loss in revenue.

The league only doesn't matter to Davy when is team are playing rubbish.

He rants about winning the league in 2016 and what a great success that was.

Waterford May pick up 1 win but I can't see anymore than that. There is no real identify to the team and I don't think the players believe in what the manager is doing

I dont see where corks next all Ireland will come from tbh. They just seem to lack a bit of mettle, no fear factor in playing them anymore,it's hard to put your finger on.
They remind me of man utd in that they've got good players and a great history and are a match fhr anyone on their day but seem to have fallen out of the winners circle and just can't get back there.
The growth of rugby and soccer in Cork obviously hasn't helped but then again limerick have the same competition from other sports and have just produced the greatest team to play the game.

Davy, for all his detractors and antics , has enjoyed alot of success as a manager, waterford, first time round, Clare, wexford all improved and won major competitions under him, I don't follow colleges gaa at all but I think he's done well there too, , he doesn't however have a long shelf life as a manager with teams and if it doesn't work out well for him at waterford he'll struggle to land another big job imo.

I disagree they could well win it this year. They were very unlucky to miss out last year and the standard of hurling they play when they hit their straps is as good as anyone. Need to give the likes of Conor Lehane a back seat role if they are going to progress

i'm listening to the same tune about cork for the last 20 years this could be there year.......its possible cork will have three forwards playing this year who played in the 2013 final what does that tell you.........cork won't win the all ireland this year or next year either......

I agree. In the seventies and eighties we shuck in our boots at the thought of playing them. Not anymore. Even though they won last year we have good success again them since and definitely no fear.

Cork have a population of over 500k. Other sports shouldn't have a huge impact on their ability to produce in Munster. They have 4 times the population of Clare FFS

Cork will surely fire the kitchen sink at it this year. It'll be 20 years with Liam if they don't win it this year. I don't think Kilkenny ever went that length without winning McCarthy, nor even Tipperary!

Boyle sports latest odds for SHC winners…, Limerick 4/5. Clare, Kilkenny, Galway 13/2. Cork 8/1. Tipperary 12/1. Waterford 50/1. Wexford 66/1. Bookies have their mind made up and it's Limerick at a canter, and the bookies are rarely wrong.Time to go on holiday!

Every team has had success against Cork in the last while ,and I don't think they are on other counties radar as the team to beat.. obviously Limerick are. Clare vs Limerick on "Savage Sunday " will be interesting , and the Munster championship will throw up interesting duels, but Limerick will be expected to eventually triumph. Limerick came out of Munster as 3rd place finisher in 2018, lost to Clare by about 10 points in Ennis, and we all know what happened after that. Competition is what fuels the GAA and the current Munster championship, but Limerick are still in pole position , and the loss to Kilkenny won't rankle them. Nobody is talking about the Kilkenny vs Clare league final and that's a pity as historically the league final was a major event!

Yes, and that's reflected in Cork's 30 All Ireland's to Clare's 4, although the Banner County had the Biddy Early curse hanging over them for decades. Definitely the competition from rugby and soccer is massive in Cork, but there is enough interest in GAA, and no harm in giving "the little fishes " as Davy calls them, their day in the sun. On a more serious note,Clare have a good team this year, and as they have an ageing team with 4 of their 2013 all Ireland winners, this could be their best year to topple Limerick. Clare have several exceptional individual performers and if they all click on the day, can beat anyone. Kilkenny are their hoodoo team!

Tipps longest ever gap was between winning it in 71 and 89. Kilkennys longest gap since they 1st won it is between 1922 and 1932 and 1947 and 1957. If they don't win it this year they will be at least equalling their record.

Tipp won in 1971 and didn't win again until 1989. Pity poor Dublin who haven't won since 1938 and Waterford since 1959. Wexford have had a drought since 1996, whilst Clare went from 1914 to 1995 without success.Limerick were in the wilderness from 1973 to 2018 but the Last 20 years have been dominated by Kilkenny and Limerick and there are effectively only 8 counties that compete for Liam every year. What hurling needs is a win for Waterford, Dublin or Wexford. Munster will be a war again this year, whilst Leinster is much less competitive, and the big winners are the GAA public… can't say enough about the players who toil on year after year without any rewards!

Being compared to Man Utd isn't too bad with the Red Devils.. same shirt and everything! We'll give it another lash this year and like Mayo in football we'll have a few good days out. Galway have flummoxed me over the last decade. No win since 2017 and I think Joe Canning retired a bit early. Galway had the physicality and hurling to move on from that 2017 all Ireland, but with only 5 hurling all Ireland wins, are historically serial under performers! They are again along with Clare and Kilkenny the main challengers to Limerick but….probably the most unpredictable team in the country!

A refreshing post and I'm sure that Kiely and his team will give Cork their due respect when they play them. No Munster game will be easy and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Waterford turnover Cork in Walsh Park. As regards team selection Cork have a strong panel and will use it as the campaign progresses… goal is to emerge from Munster!
