Donegal Tyrone was a sell out, dont understand why it wasn't in Clones

The reason for the small attendance is the fact its a dead duck provincial championship where the winner is known before a ball is kicked.

Yeah very surprised at the Armagh Down attendance, Armagh have a big following, could draw close to 10k for a league game. Ulster semi final with Down, both sides having gone well in the league and it only draws 12k. That's a very disappointing crowd.

Was at the Down/Armagh game and I reckon someone was telling a porky. The attendance seemed to be in the 17/18000 region.

Looking at the TV coverage the attendance looked smaller than usual for an Armagh game. If that was 17/18k fair play. I thought both terraces behind each goal would be busy unusually not. Celtic Park (albeit a smaller ground) on Sunday looked much more packed together with an official attendance of just over 14k.

I was at Clones for this match and I thought the attendance was about 11,000 to 12,000. Down had about 1,500- 2,000 and the rest were Armagh fans. Thought Down played a great game in what was a hostile atmosphere and were very unlucky to lose. Down wanted this match to be played in Newry or Armagh which would have meant a better crowd but Armagh blocked it. The attendance was about 9,000-10,000 less than the Ulster semi final between the two teams at Clones last year. REDANDBLACK30 (Down) - Posts: 1618 - 02/05/2024 16:01:01 2542497 Link 0 |
