12/1 London was with some bookies. 11 of the same Mayo starters that started against their club selection and scored 7-20 in that match a week ago. Either London defended very well today or the club selection was hopeless at defending.

Mayo fans get criticised for getting carried away when things are going well. And here we have posters from other counties actually caring about an FBD match in January. Some craic

People just delighted to see London going so well.! Of course at the start of James Horan's first spell in charge of Mayo, they were very nearly beaten by London in the Connacht championship. 2011 I think it was.

Flaker with respect when u have Ryan ondonoghue out during the week talking about not being far off winning Sam it's not hard to see why posters get a go off ye losing to London in the fbd
Most people wud probably like to
See Mayo winning Sam -genuinely - however yer players need to learn a bit of humility who knows if that ever happens maybe yer day will come

Absolute sad posters on here saying we scored hugely against ourselves that was for a charity match for motor neurone disease.

Very petty people on here against mayo it's January in Fbd (a nothing competition) with an extremely experimental team get over yourselves get a life maybe and concentrate on your county maybe.. We couldn't care less that we won't win FBD.

Eh Ryan O D wasn't even playing today you see lots of players from other counties saying that kind of stuff to.

There was nothing wrong with what Ryan O D said our ayers have plenty of humility. People just love to see mayo loosing.

Thread not about Mayo more about outsiders winning matchs that the books give them little chance in . Their will be others during the year but unlikely to be as big a shock price wise as this .

And here you are reading into a nothing interview with a player who always performs well more often than not. He talked about them performing well in the first half against Dublin before playing poorly in the second half and looking to rectify that. He then said Dublin went on to win the All Ireland so they are not that far away. It's hardly some cocky statement from a lad saying they are better than Dublin and Kerry.

Mayo have not been good enough on the biggest day to get over the line and I have never offered any excuses. But people from outside of Mayo have an unusual fascination with our county team. Whether it's league, champ or FBD people seem to over analyse everything. Dublin and Kerry are the top 2. Mayo are in the gang of 5 or 6 below them. The players know that and the so do the management.

People seem to be forgetting that NY contributed to an 'outsider' double over Mayo this weekend! So a great weekend all told, for the teams flying into Ireland!

Well done to both. Expensive trips over and rewarded with impressive wins.

Mayo won the FBD and NFL last year…meant sweat f all come championship where we flopped. Fact is Mayo are in transition and nowhere near the team from 2012-2017. We seem to be always a talking point for da rossie posters here for some reason. We probably 3rd or 4th favs for Connacht this years after that London result.

Well done to Brigid's…great result and hopefully they take the cup back across (just about) the Shannon.

Kerry level of poor mouthing right there.

"Fact is Mayo are in transition and nowhere near the team from 2012-2017"

Granted Mayo aren't near that level both as individuals or collectively now however the transition period was mainly done by James Horan and the expensive management team of McStay, Rochford,Buckley, McHale looked to hit the ground running which they did by winning the FBD and Div 1 titles last year. Then came a road block in the shape of Roscommon in the Connacht championship.

That defeat was seen in the eyes of many pundits as a blessing in disguise with a number of weeks to prep for the All-Ireland series and it looked that way when Mayo powered past Kerry. What followed left more questions than answers. Only beating Louth at home by the narrowest of margins allowed the doubts creep in and then arrived the killer blow to the season that promised a lot more by losing to Cork and worse of all getting outscored 1-6 without reply in the last 20 minutes.

A mini boost was got by beating neighbours Galway next but it was low quality match and Galway three main players weren't match fit. The "reward" for that win was against a rested Dublin in Croke Park and Mayo facing up to their 3rd match in 3 weeks and performances against Cork, Galway was no way convincing that they would be competitive for 70 minutes v Dublin and so it proved.
