Big year ahead for Limerick Hurling with the Senior Team attempting 5 in a row.
First matchs of the year in Munster league next Sunday against Cork in Mallow and Clare the following Wednesday night in Sixmilebridge, be interesting to see some new names getting a try.

I think you will see a lot of the fringe players getting time in the Munster League and the start of the league. Players like Fergal O Connor, Shane O Brien, Aidan O Connor etc need some more game time to see how they are progressing and Jimmy Quilty when fit. I've heard there are a few more young lads called up to the extended panel such as Paddy O Donovan and Cian Scully.

It would be an insane achievement for Limerick to do 5 in a row before any of the big three managed it.

In all honesty I think it's limerick's to lose again.

If ye get out of Munster you won't be stopped.

Doylerwex, that's the big problem for limerick is actually getting out of Munster..away to both Clare and cork..first game is vital, zbeat Clare and it just might set limerick up,lose and under huge pressure straight off..looking forward to seeing more panel members get their chance in matches coming up..hopefully Declan and cian get back to full fitness and possibly one of seanie or Richie back for championship..I want to see more of fergal o connor and goalkeeper Dave mc Carthy, also more of o dalaigh..

A friend living up in Tipp gave our young lads a sliotar signed by Dave McCarthy. Would he be better than Jason Gillane?

Personally think an injury crisis is the only thing that will stop ye getting top 3, I think ye are certs, Waterford have to much ground to make up add in 2 Gleeson's, Pauric Mahony and McNulty not available, they have to win their 1st 2 games home to Cork and Tipp as i can't see them getting anything in Limerick and Ennis, think there's a cigarette paper between Cork, Tipp and Clare for 2nd and 3rd.

Pauric Mahoney was never one of Waterfords top intercounty players TFW. And has been retired from intercounty a few years now.

He only retired a year ago, only turning 32 this year, still well able to contribute as shown with his form for Ballygunner, he was always a starter for the majority of his career just got a few serious injuries, only manager he was out of favour with was Cahill as he didn't suit his style of play.

I saw him play live dozens of times. An excellent free taker but maybe lacking a little bite needed for senior intercounty. Great going forwards when Waterford were in possession but not a complete top level player like a TJ Reid. Injuries probably had something to do with that in fairness. He never got an all star, not that I'm a big fan of them anyway, and wasn't always a definite starter for Waterford before Cahill took over. He's always been great at club level no arguments there. But at intercounty level I'd describe him as good rather than great.

There's a good reason nobody has done 5 in a row, because its damn hard to do.

I think Limerick have a good chance if we can get out of Munster which won't be easy. Remember Limerick have to go to Ennis in their first game which is a tough assignment and we also have to go play Cork in Cork. Tipperary will always fancy upsetting Limerick and will not fear coming to the Gaelic Ground. Waterford brought chaos against Limerick last year which took Limerick a long time to figure out.

If you offered me third place in Munster right now I would happily grab it with both hands. There's a lot of hurling to be done between now and Championship and the injury/fitness status of all counties at the end of the league could have a huge bearing on their championship prospects.

Basically, with all due respects to the other teams, we have two main games in the League. We definitely should try a number of them young hopefuls in the League. Whatever way 2024 goes I think a few of our senior men will call it a day at the close of this year and we need to have a few new lads as ready as they can be to replace them.

Not sure what capacity of pitch in clarecastle but I see the match Wednesday night is a sellout..also only one all Ireland starter in team to play cork..I'd like to see some of these players get a run of maybe 4 matches and see if they can put a hand up for selection..cork look like they have picked a team to win the match and not just fulfil the fixture..

The round robin draw is much more difficult this year with Clare and Cork away and particularly with Clare away in the first game. Given that we could easily have been out last season in Munster I think the minds will be much more focused on the first 2 games with the league sacrificed as a result. We have yet to win a round robin game in Ennis so alot will hinge on this opening game. A win here will set things up nicely. The league is going to be a balancing act of getting game time into new players and also ensuring that the established players are match sharp. Given that we have Antrim, Westmeath and Dublin in the first 3 games and then Tipp and Galway in the last 2 at home without wanting to win the league we could easily end up in a semi final.

I understand it's only 450 they are letting into the match at Clarecastle so no surprise it's a sellout. I
forgot the buy tickets on time myself and I'm only 500 meters up the road

What won't Kilkenny 'like it one little bit'?

I can't speak for the whole of Kilkenny, but why would we not 'like it one little bit'? If Limerick win 5 in a row. good luck to them, they're a great team.
I can't understand why people can't admire and praise a great team like Limerick, without resorting to sneering at other counties.
