Halftime scoreline flattered us, first yellow was an outrageous decision, awful discipline from Rory for second. No excuses, beat out the gate on the day. A pity as leaves a a bad taste on a promising year

Not a good watch throughout I'm afraid.
Even when we drew level and getting the penalty I didn't think we were going to win.
Rorys sending off was a massive blow and Jippo not around meant we were always on the back foot.
Clare were very composed and with guys like Kelly
Reidy and O'Donnell superb an easy win was always going to be the end result.
In fairness the lads tried hard but a lot of poor ball was delivered to our forwards. A couple of shots at goal but really they were weak attempts.
Best for Wexford were the two Recks although Damien gave away a few bad passes. Conor Foley and Eoin Ryan played with maturity and will play big parts in the future. Conor Hearne got through a mountain of work and left nothing in the tank.
Chin and Mac were well marked all day and never managed to get going the way we've come to expect. Clare certainly done their homework on the two lads. Charlie and Richie never really made an impression.
Rory did chop down on the hand in the first minute and really should have been more careful for the duration.

Replying To hunting:  "The yellow for Rory after 30 seconds was a disgrace and as bad a decision I have seen for a long time. As for the 2nd it was a yellow but no way was it a red like a poster posted twice above. Very disheartened with today. We were poor and even with 15 today we wouldn't have beaten Clare. So disappointed, I can't really say much more at the moment."
2 yellows and a red is also given. That's the rule I'm afraid.

Replying To Past hurler:  "If them Wexford players can't get fired up today, they will never get fired up after the way Clare voted against the feile families of Wexford seeing the match.

Whatever about losing the match, die with your boots on lads and the very best of luck!"
Our lads, with a few honourable exceptions, did nothing of the sort today. Pitiful display in truth considering everything. Not sure how to assess the year, certainly the likes of Hearne, Byrne, Foley made big strides and will be better again next year. It's the maddening lack of intensity in our play that's a killer. Antrim, even when KK were vulnerable and today on the biggest day of all we were flat beyond belief.

Very surprising Dee wasn't brought on.
What's the point of having a man of his quality sitting on the bench twiddling his thumbs for 75 minutes?

Replying To Passer_By:  "Why, because Anthony (impartial) Daly said so? Should never have been sent off. If I was a Wexford man I'd be livid. Destroyed the game. 100% turning point. All of the momentum was with Wexford, just on the cusp of half time. Joke of a sending off in May view"
I don't take any notice of Daly. The second card was a dangerous pull. The sending off ruined the game. I think the refs need to consider on the impact of giving inoccuous yellow cards and having to dismiss a player who does not deserve it. A player is expected to be careful if carrying one. However there is no consequences for the ref.
I will agree with all that the first yellow was just wrong but the second one was a plain lunacy act.

Amount of negativity on here is incredible... Half that Wexford team were playing in their 1st quarter final against an experienced Clare outfit, thought they battled well and kept going even with 14, the fist yellow was a joke issued by a ref with not an ounce of common sense. Brendan Cummins face Wexford plenty of respect in his commentary ' a pound hurling county with quality hurlers and a good future' a lot more than has been displayed by supposed Wexford supporters on this forum.

Well lads another year over a few positives and a few negatives but haven't missed a match all year and will continue to support them in every game next year.. positives for the year has been with likes of Eoin Ryan Conor foley cian Bryne etc… negatives the defeat to Antrim the 2 goals conceded against Dublin.. the 10 mins after half time in both kk game and game today.. on today just thought our supply into the forwards at times was poor compaired to Clare's…. In first 10 mins don't think we won 1 puck out which is another concern.. on the sending off o didn't see the 2nd incident but booking a lad with 5 seconds into the game was johny being a little hitler.. thought Conor foley was our best player today and was superb on peter Duggan.. places in defences next year wil be hard and hopefully Ian carty can return with Eoin whelan coming through from under 20s.. along with the 2 recks jippo Eoin Ryan Conor foley patsy Molloy Simon Donohoe and o hanlon if he gives it another year which i hope he does… anyway roll on the club championship which I presume will start in 2-3 weeks hope to get to good few games this year

We are commenting on a disappointing performance that lacked any great intensity.

Progress this year. Yes. But still short 5 or 6 high quality players.

Most on here are realist. Indeed most of us who are over 40 have learnt from years of experience supporting wexford. We were once those internal optimists, you never say a negative thing about wexford but overall performances over the last 20 years, lack of underage success has resulted in a most critical outlook on wexford. Rightly so in my opinion.

And like many others on here are now involved with our own clubs at underage to try make a difference.

Said it before and Il say it again,we are bang average!!! We are simply not at the races lads, take the Wexford jersey of ya and just look in at it!!! Totally over rated,I keep saying it our so called poster boys, chin Mac Rory just to easy to stop in the big games against proper teams!!! Cleary hurled chin up a stick Mac at Notting today,to easy!!! Chin got cleaned v Kilkenny too and I have no doubt if O'Donnell had of been on him v Dublin for full game he wouldn't have featured!!! Against the weaker team looks like a all star but to be honest Notting there for a good while now!!! I just don't see the supporting act either there isn't one as far as I can see!!! We are miles off it!!! I said I'd wait to judge the team until after this game and my opinion on them is that we are terrible!!! And when Liam og and all these lads go we are in huge bother!!!! I also said we are nowhere near as good as we were in 19 and we are not in a country mile of that form!!! People said we have a better panel ,where is it???God help us in the league next year, feel sorry for rossi he has an awful job ahead of him!!! This team is finished now and it's going to be a dark few years for Wexford, alot of them are finished now and we have Notting to replace them with, one Leinster medal a poor return for that group!!! Thanks for the memories some good hurlers, gave us some great days!!! I wish them well!!! Liam og
Dee
Kevin Foyle
Donoghue
Matthew
Maybe chin
Some of the lads out of the 26 might go
We havnt the players to replace these lads!!!
Really disappointed with Charlie prob a wing back, just not up to it brilliant club hurler
Richie Lawlor was good at minor, what has he actually done at senior club, how many senior club games has he even played very few!!! Poor at u20
Foyle not a back very poor defensively
Rory O'Connor discipline issue track record too
Mac best fist pump in Wexford at Notting v good teams has been poor for along time now!!!
Jippo worth his weight in gold
Damien reck not a real centre back again comes to light v poor teams!!! We are in big trouble around the whole team!!! Good night and good luck I hope to god we see some springers in the club championship!!! Over and out for 24

Would first of all like to note that there are some people on here who only seem to come out of the woodwork when Wexford lose; I can take people criticising the team on here if they also give credit where it's due and/or don't pick and choose a time to post when it's convenient so as to suit their argument but some of the negative attitudes on here will do nothing for Wexford hurling, again not saying the team are above criticism, it's just that we shouldn't pay much heed to those who only pipe up when we're losing.

As for the actual game, we were flattered to be level before the red card, we were flat as a pancake for the first 20-25 minutes, no intensity to our game and we were too soft, Clare had way too much time on the ball and they had way too many players getting into space easily. To be fair to them, they used the ball well but our use of the ball was very poor plus we were getting cleaned out of it in physical contests for possession and were second to loose balls everywhere.

Hard to analyse the game after the red card as it essentially ended the game as a competitive contest, we hung in well enough until their second goal but you always got the sense that it was just too steep a hill to climb. I'm ok with the second yellow card, don't think it was a red card as some have suggested on here, the ball was there to be got at and Rory went for the block and just missed, these things happen in hurling. You could criticise Rory for going in like that on a yellow card but let's not kid ourselves, Gearóid Hegarty consistently does similar for Limerick and yet it's been a while since he was sent off. First yellow card was a bonkers call but alas, we cannot do anything about it right now.

Would be happy enough with how Conor Foley, Cian Byrne, and Eoin Ryan played, we do have a good group of young hurlers coming through and next year, we could have some out of CBD, Tucker Kinsella, Darragh Carley, Cian Molloy, and maybe Eoin Whelan starting come Championship. Of course, we could be losing the likes of MOH, Liam Óg, and Dee but they owe us nothing at this stage. Would also hope that we're able to get Paudie Foley and Ian Carthy back into the fold plus would also hope that we get much better injury luck next year; Jippo, Oisín Foley, and Jacko would've been a big help today

Look Jedobi, I don't know what you are on about saying one day i support wexford. I have followed them for 49 years and have sat in wexford Park in the bad days when there was only a couple of hundred there for a league game against Down. But we were disappointing today and that the truth. We're are not 11 points or whatever it finished up a worse team then Clare. Ryan and Jack O are worth 5 to 6 points to the team and they were missing them today. Also to lose Rory and our best player for all the second half was the turning point of the game but I still think Clare would of beaten us by 3 or 4 points, because we were not on it today. Big mentions to Eoin Ryan and Conor Foley I taught they were excellent for young men, Shane reck and fanning deserve a mention too along with Rory till he got wrongly sent off.

The young guys on the team deserve more respect than what is being shown on this forum. But I'm a UK based supporter so my option matters less I guess, it's the impression I get anytime I post, regardless my dad being from Wexford.

Don't mind that soft talk from Cummins, a 12 point defeat on a day that we all thought we would either win or go very close is very disappointing. Munster counties have no respect for us and won't have until we earn it on the pitch. U20 results very poor this year too so there aren't many new players definitely good enough for the panel.

And maybe cut down on frees and stop Rory O Connor being reckless. Against Dublin he had a wild over head pull that some.refs would show a straight red. He was living in the edge against Galway too. Fabulous hurler I hope he learns from today

It's because of those young lads doing well that I'm not so depressed. Imagine knowing we could be losing those players you mentioned with nothing coming through. Thankfully that isn't the case. In 1A we.knkw Keith will give lads a chance, he has no other choice.now.

Disappointed with today but shows exactly where we are in terms of physicality, fouling etc.

The better team won, we are still on the outside looking in at the top sides. But vastly improved

Thanks lads.for the effort

Today wasn't a good day at all, but I'm not going to be too dramatic about it. The first yellow was a joke, but overall didn't impact the result.

At the beginning of the year we wanted to stay up, we did that.

We wanted to find some players. We did that. Eoin Ryan is a class act. He's going to be all star material. Cian Molloy finally involved. Conor Foley developing well. CBD, and more so Cian Byrne can be very potent attackers.

Richie lawlor developing well and Conor hearne has come of age.

We'll likely lose, Matt, Dee and mogie.

We wanted to finish a minimum third in Leinster, and should probably have been in the Leinster final.

High point, very strong pre season, big win against Galway.

Low points, Antrim and today, albeit Clare are consistently the third best team in the country for the last three years.

The group we have now is good so it's important we keep them together.

Add in Carty, Clarke, flood, the two Foleys and we're stronger again.

All in all it's a very positive start for Rossi. I'm already looking forward to next season.

Think Rossiter done well for the players at his disposal. Gave plenty of opportunities but obviously a huge gulf between the top 4 teams and the rest now. Not sure any of the players you've mentioned will strengthen us bar Paudie foley. Thanks to the players for there commitment this year.
