Season Tickets

Replying To fainleog:  "Does that prove anything, certainly not. The season ticket will also ensure a ticket to championship matches, example the eagerly awaited Clare v Limerick game and an All-Ireland hurling final ticket if Limerick are invoved. The reality is the only tickets that become available are from those holders from the previous year who do not choose to renew their subscription and then those tickets go on sale without notice and are snapped up within hours."
Wish we were successful enough that getting tickets was an issue! Seriously though can you not get tickets through your club?

Some do, others do not. There are a limited number of tickets available at clubs. Then there are others who are not members of clubs.

Clubs don't want the hassle of handling tickets and cash. And the model last season was that club members were just issued with an email link to ticketmaster to purchase their tickets.

The league of Ireland seems to be where it's at. I've even bought a season ticket at a club, really good value. Works out at 8 eur a game where you'd have to pay 20 eur in otherwise (if tickets available that is). Also generally good atmosphere. Outside of a few elite counties, interest in intercounty GAA scene fell off a cliff - especially in Leinster.

There is no comparision between League of Ireland and the GAA in regard to attendances. The GAA is away ahead in attendances. The GAA has a vast network of stadia and grounds in the country and leaves soccer well behind. The GAA is the big sporting organisation.

Taking Limerick as an example
Gaelic Grounds 44k
Thomond Park 25k
Markets Field 3k?

League of Ireland certainly not "where it's at" there!!!

Attendance figures for all league of Ireland clubs are on the rise over the last 3/4 years… Attendance figures for almost every county for football matches have dropped dramatically.. so there's your comparison… County football is now woeful to watch hence the huge drop in attendance figures.. People especially the younger generation are turning their backs on the GAA….

Some of the GAA match attendances this year are Kerry V Dublin 82,300, Kerry V Derry 43,192, Dublin V Monaghan 82,000, Galway V Mayo 23,897, Limerick v Kilkenny 82,300, Limerick V Clare 43,756, Limerick V Galway 59738. You might come up with some League of Ireland match attendances now. Happy days anyway with the GAA they have just received
€32,000,00 generously from JP.

Perception really. I remember a game in Croke Park attracted a crowd 40,000. Media reports said it was half empty (true). Same weekend a soccer game in Tolka park attracted a crowd of a 1,000; media reports stated a bumper crowd (true).

The league of ireland is where it's at,, unless you're one of the actual players who are sitting by their phones every night praying for an English club, any english club, league one, two, it doesn't matter, to offer them a contract and rescue them from where they are now.

I think attendances in football from the Ulster clubs are respectable in general. Derry, Tyrone and Donegal in particular. Mayo always can attract decent crowds, whilst Kerry supporters will always turn up for the final. Cork can get decent hurling attendances, but football turnout usually poor. Dublin footballers can always fill Croke Park, and a strong Dublin is a bonanza for GAA! League of Ireland in general isn't well supported, but rugby popularity for Leinster and Munster is growing !

Average FAI attendance across the two divisions is less than 2,000.

You are not comparing like with like or more likely not intelligent enough to… I was simply making the point that GAA attendances in football mainly have drastically dropped in recent years while soccer crowds have increased… simple logic

Dropped drastically?
Give us figures.

Don't forget either that the gaa has this terrible habit of fixing games for stadia that are far too big for them. What looks like a sparse crowd in Pearse stadium or Mc hale park might fill some league of ireland grounds twice over.

About 35k at the Leinster Final when it was 75/80k a few years back … is over a 50% drop a good enough figure for you…? Anyone who thinks attendance figures for county football matches hasn't dropped significantly are living in cloud cuckoo land…!!

Leinster stopped being a competition some time ago.
Dublin lost 1 game between 2005 and 2023.
In fact it's a wonder 35k would pay into it at all when there's not even a morsel of doubt as to the outcome.

Back to Season tickets ....
Anyone renewing it?
