Replying To Guggy: "Reading back through this thread from last year. Some of the issues with no referee's being assigned for U13 matches have not been resolved this year albeit there seems to be more refs available for football than hurling.
From the Meath GAA fixtures website, it seems the semi-final and finals for U13 football competitions have been finally re-instated. This is long overdue as 13 year old's need to be playing for something competitive. They are getting this at rugby, basketball and soccer.
Not having a semi and final in U13 didn't seem fair or consistent, especially given the age these boys are at and the level of commitment they're putting in. Not having a competitive structure until U15 would have meant these players will have to wait two more years before they experience the same excitement, motivation, and reward that comes with knockout stages or finals.
On that note, does anyone know if there will be semi's and finals for the U13 hurling competition?
No placeholders for it on Meath GAA fixtures website but surely it must be done for hurling also?"
Not sure but just looked. U15 football is meant to start this Wednesday and still no fixtures out. This is a total lack of respect for players mentors and parents. We have already played grading competitions earlier in the year. Why the delay?
Replying To Opal1902Mcl: "Any talk of minor being moved to u18 this year I think it wud be better overall"
I believe a motion is going to the county board meeting on Nov 22nd that will propose a change back to U18. Some great work has gone in behind the scenes by a number of clubs, particularly Walterstown. Hopefully it won't be dismissed like it pretty much was last year. The motion proposes that lads playing minor (U18) will not be allowed to play adult football and hurling unless their with a junior club.

Hopefully that will get more support from the junior clubs than last year. Do you think it will get voted in?
