1/4 Finals

(Oldest Posts First)

Was in Cusack park for the double header on saturday and I suppose bith games went as predicted.Sam Duncan for Milltownpass was by far the best player on the pitch in first game-he completely ran the show and Castledaly couldnt handle him-also Brandon Kelly and Liam Brennan were excellant. In senior game first half was a slow burner as Caulry found it hard to break down a very defensive Athlone set up but fair play to Athlone as their game plan worked and they were very good on the break and scored a very well worked goal thru Conor Rushe.Bad padsing and poor decision making didnt help Caulry. But second half was a completely different story as Caulry scored a quick 1-5 without reply and took control of the game as Maguire,Connolly,McCormack and Baker upped their game but especially the younger Baker Tadgh who was immense in this second half.Athlone kept battling away but it felt Caulry were always in control.Different story in semis tho as they will have to put in a full hours shift or Kinnegad will blow them away.-has the making of a good game tho.

Offaly have an 8 team SF Championship. 6 teams qualify for the knockout stages, Tullamore and Rhode are automatic semi finalists, Edenderry and Ferbane came through the q/ finals.. The bottom 2 played a relegation match, Clara will be in Senior B next year. In an eight team championship, 6 is too many in the knockout games. There should be just 4 semi finalists.

Do all 8 teams play each other first.
if it gets teams more games then where is the issue.]
so its 7 group games to decide placings then every other team is guaranteed another game.
thats only 8 games which isnt a lot for a senior team in their main competition in a year even with a completely secondary league and having hurling commitments as well

So the minimum amount of games you could play is 4 and maximum 6.

There are two groups of four teams, each team plays 3 games. The group winners qualify for the semi finals, second and third placed teams play a quarter final. The bottom teams in each group play a relegation match.
The semi finals will be played this coming weekend.
