Down senior league;; ref was threatened, walked off at half-time. Amazing that anyone would want to become a ref, abuse on boards like this, spills over into on-field threats and actual physical assault. befair (Down) - Posts: 238 - 29/06/2023 13:11:07 2490618 Link 6 |
It's gotten extremely bad lately. Hadn't heard that from Down. He was dead right to walk off at half time. Like you said, why on earth would anyone want to be a ref anymore. The ref that got assaulted in Ros last year hasn't refereed since and won't again, and you can't blame him.

How did that case in Roscommon end up. Seemed to get forgot about very quickly as if not much truth to it ??

The court case was heard recently. Think the judge has adjourned for a weeks to consider sentencing.

Given that it was in court this week I'd say you're gravely mistaken and don't really know what you're talking about.

There was certainly truth to it, but hadn't heard how it finished.

Why give a stupid reply like that. As I asked how did it end up. Never said I knew the outcome of it

Because your post finished with "as if not much truth to it", as if to say it was made up or that there was little issue with what happened. The referee in question was unconscious for a number of minutes, was on medication for injuries sustained and has not returned to refereeing since, of course there was truth to it. It's all part of a general breakdown in law and order in ireland . You can give someone a beating on the street and nothing happens you so people think it's the same at sports events . OpenStand (Limerick) - Posts: 741 - 29/06/2023 19:50:38 2490737 Link 5 |
Free legal aid solicitors are making over €40 million a year. Some on over 500k. All to make excuses for chaps and ladies with multiple convictions who are given "one more chance" because they have a dink/drugs/betting/eating/sleeping/climate change disorder. As you imply, no proper punishment to fit offence. Anyone who physically attacks a ref or other official or deliberately causes serious physical harm to another player ought to be doing jail time. I remember Duncan Ferguson did 3 months for headbutting an opponent, when he played for Rangers against Raith Rovers. He was unpunished during the game itself. An assault on a referee or another player, is an assault and can be punished accordingly! Ryanteam (Cork) - Posts: 532 - 30/06/2023 17:34:23 2490887 Link 0 |
