So I have a choice to make. O'Brien Fay Lyons or Quinn.
Maybe I'm letting nostalgia rule me here. But I have to go for the mighty Jack Quinn. As a child been brought to my first matches by my late farther and been lifted over the stiles he was my hero.

Meath have had some great full backs in my time. Mick Lyons and Darren Fay were top full backs and Kevin Reilly was as good as any full back around too.

No, it's Paddy McCormack "The Iron Man from Rhode" that you go far. Don't mind those Meath fledglings in comparison to the Great McCormack.

In the build up to the final, everyone was talking about the Joyce v Fay match up, so it's not like Fay didn't know a battle was coming. Fay was favourite for footballer of the year up until he got cleaned by Joyce. The greatest full back of all time doesn't concede double digit scores to his marker in a all ireland final, so he ain't the greatest full back. Noel Tierney is!"
Obviously you were not at the match or did not watch it tv. Mark O Reilly switched with Fay during the 1st Half, midway I believe. Joyce scored 2-3 points off Fay before the switch. As an aside, I always thought it was a poor decision by Sean Boylan, but it was Fay's decision as recounted in the book of Meath Fullbacks, Four Royal Kings.

Mick Mackey, at 33 years of age and playing on a poor team, scored 2.5 from play off the great Joe Keohane of Kerry and Mackey would not even admit he was ever a footballer. On any given day things can go against even great players. And yes Padraig Joyce was an exceptional Footballer
