What grounds are you looking to transfer if they are in close proximity? Glory hunting or Money? sourmilk93 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1206 - 02/05/2023 13:54:43 2475071 Link 3 |

We will end up like local soccer if lads stay transferring for little of no reason only one side it better than the other, The poster outlines the clubs are in close proximity so why transfer unless glory hunting or a row. If player was of no use to his home club i cant see why they would object

Why exactly are you looking for a transfer if travelling isn't an issue?

I have no clue about the cross border rivalry between Naomh Pádraig and Strabane Sigersons! :D

Not for glory or money, if anything going to a smaller club. Bad morale and attitude in the old club and want to play for enjoyment without pressure. Gaa2023 (Donegal) - Posts: 4 - 02/05/2023 16:41:36 2475175 Link 2 |
Definitely pettiness from the club, just wondering if the objection will stand if there's no valid reason for it other than to be difficult

Ok fair enough. That's probably why they are objecting to the transfer though.

Objecting tobsomeone who wants to leave you just means they'll stop playing altogether.

From my knowledge,if you're living in the county of the club your transfering to,you be fine unless they find some loophole and there is alot in the GAA rulebook.

Find another more friendly and welcoming sport to play. It's ridiculous in this day and age that if a person wants to participate in an amateur sport, that they can only play for one club, a club that they have no choice about. Otherwise, they can't play the sport.

Genuine question here, but what do you feel qualifies you to transfer to the other club? Residency, employment, "other relevant connection", or something else in the bye-laws of whatever county it is? Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2854 - 02/05/2023 22:13:06 2475277 Link 0 |
Yep. Very shortsighted but then that's probably why the OP wants to leave them in the 1st place.

That he wants to should be enough.

I'll say to you what I always say to people who say things along the lines of "you should be able to play for whoever you want" - and that's be careful what you wish for. If people really could choose any club, and then chop and change between clubs whenever they wanted, then there's absolutely no guarantee that anybody would ever choose to play for your own club. And I'll say the same thing to you - be careful what you wish for, particularly if you're from a relatively small club yourself. Anyway, still waiting for an answer from the man seeking the transfer. If he's in permanent residence in the new county or has an other relevant connection to the new club (as defined by rule), then yes, it would appear the home club is being petty. On the other hand, if he doesn't meet the criteria under rule for an inter-county transfer, then the home club is doing wrong. Unless you consider it wrong to be reluctant to facilitate yet another dodgy transfer, of which there are far too many already. But that's a whole other barrel of fish. It would likely lead to far fewer clubs in the country which would lead to far fewer kids taking up hurling and football. And we would be accelerating down a slippery slope....

As long as he hasn't paid membership to his first club so far this year then he can move freely on 1st of January next with no objection possible AFAIK. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13796 - 03/05/2023 11:41:03 2475363 Link 0 |
