Replying To Fitzy01:  "Wrong again Katser, someday you'll call one right in relation to Limerick.

Good run out for Limerick and Tipp too to be fair. Scored over the 30 points mark with the inside forward line not really firing and hegarty, Hayes, Morrissey and Flanagan not on the field.
Thought cathal o neill had a great game, Cian Lynch also played well, he was fouled a lot which led to 4 or 5 tap overs. Barry Nash really got going in the second half. Declan Hannon brilliant again. Hard to believe but I would say he has been underrated in the last few seasons. Hayes and Byrnes get all the attention but Hannon's hurling intelligence and beautiful wristy distribution is off the charts.

On Tipp, they have definitely improved and seem more physical. I thought after 40 mins Limerick might blow them away but to be fair they came back again. Give their forwards any bit of space and they'll ping them over the bar all day long. The question is still there though that when the intensity dial is turned up can the likes of Jason Forde and Jake Morris etc still contribute the big scores from play."
I had Hannon down as hurler of the year twice the last few years. Thought he was slipping early last year but he's better than ever the past 12 months. Without doubt the greatest captain I've seen in hurling and may well go down as the greatest centre back too by the time he's finished…not bad for a forward!
I think your remark on Forde though is so far wide of the mark it's not funny. Who comes close to racking up the scores from play against Limerick that he does? He scored no matter who he's marking and I'd be surprised if anyone comes close to him in scores per min in leave and championship over the past 6 seasons. You're making a judgement on an inside forward in two halves of hurling where Limerick were completely on top and he got no ball. Forde does it day in day out. You're really picking two halves of hurling a a couple of years apart to say he can't cut it?

Both managers will be relatively satisfied. Tipp came with the same ferocity and energy they've shown all year. They were deserving of their HT lead. Tactically they were very good on both puck outs esp their own with hogans delivery impeccable. Their handling and movement was excellent. Limerick really drove into it in the 3rd period. I like the fact that kiely allowed the starting 15 to absorb that pressure, recover, get on top and finally take over. The likes of coughlin, murphy, o neill and o dalaigh were all exposed to a good hard test and kiely was never tempted to go to the bench to recover the situation. That can only be positive for group morale. O neill for me is really pushing hard into that starting 15 and o Dalaigh has the look of an eoin cody about him. Tipp will be satisfied but you wonder can they go a bit deeper come april/may. Their squad has been hit by a lot of injuries. They tried to rattle Limerick physically last night and you can't blame them but cahill tried the same trick with Waterford a few times and didn't work. Cian Lynch got a bit if treatment early and it only drove him on. Tipp got a lot of yellow cards but for me it was a very good physical game of hurling that I think most would have enjoyed.

Looking forward to today's match. Very even for me and both will be going hard at it with cork having the free weekend first up and kilkenny have westmeath with all due respect to them kilkenny would love a league final too"
Good assessment. I'm convinced I seen Kirby smile more than once in the first half. I'd say he'd have been delighted going in a few points down at half time.
I couldn't help notice though that he mentioned the championship/4 weeks time about 10 times in the interview after.
Everyone will have their own opinion but I'm not convinced he will want another game like that in the final. I'd be shocked if he goes as close to full strength again - just my opinion. I'd fancy them to heat either of Cork or Kk with 9/10 starters anyway

Good summary, Fitzy. You're right about Declan Hannon - a brilliant hurler who seems to do the right thing all the time. Tipp's forwards struggled after half time. I would suggest there's a big difference between Forde and Morris. Forde is an experienced, mature player who is Tipp's best forward by far, but he needs better support. Morris is an opportunist, but his work rate is suspect. I believe he's best used as an impact sub, when he's more likely to score goals.

Very enjoyable game. Tipp gave it lots in the first half and it made it interesting. Limerick seem to like second halves against Tipp. They don't even need the full 35 either. Super team. They have everything..
Looking forward to a good game in Nolan Park today.. Cork Limerick would be an interesting final considering the opening round of the league.

I think the fact limerick are now in final they won't hold back..they might prefer killkenny in final looking further down the line..I was delighted kiely didn't withdraw some of the lads who got their chance last night at half time..it will really stand to them to get a game like that..three decent games in league and Tipp and limerick were involved in two each..outside of those everyone expects to start,Adam english was excellent for under 20s and Shane o brien also looked very good..Dave Trudy still isn't back..the options are huge,Dan and Kyle to come back in but where do they start?tipp have improved hugely, have solved full and center back..Maher is more suited to wing back..it seems to be from midfield up they might have a problem in getting the eight players in position..their first match v clare will define the season..sit back today now and watch the other semi..we are in a great place.

Agree would rather Kilkenny,if we get out of Munster,we wouldn't be meeting them to later in the year, cork could be a different game.

This is a Monaghan head (and yes, they are allowed to comment on matters hurling), home of Kavanagh. They can't say things in simple English up there, or at times in any English at all, so he wrote half his sentence in acronyms, just after Peter Casey's goal. What he really meant was: Limerick-yawn (you are wonderful now)!!! Pity every county didn't have a PJ Mac (player just mighty as Casey).

See, easy fix it!

You mistake good old Munster Hurling for bullying. Nobody bullies Tipp or Limerick - there are always big boys, who know how to give it and take it, with no whinging after. A magnificent rivalry in the very best Munster Tradition.

Brilliant technical hurler, one of the sweetest strikers of a ball there is but i meant at the very highest level from play in the trenches and white hot heat of championship is he going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck like a prime Callinan or Lar. If he is going to be the main man for Tipp i would have thought just a bit more is required. Jackie Tyrell mentioned it last night, he can't break the line. But i guess if you have someone in there you can pop it off to him at the right time, then you can make hay. I think Tipp need just a little bit more from him or maybe as you suggested, they should be supplying him better.
