Should Admission Prices Be Reduced According To How Far You Have To Travel To County Games

(Oldest Posts First)

Tomsmith here

I just wonder would it be an idea for the Gaa to launch an spectator friendly initiative , by making the admission prices to games depending on how far you have to travel
Take Cavan followers / supporters we have to travel long distances, and as our team did well in the Ulster championship a few years ago and more recently in the Tailteann Cup it was very expensive on us supporters following the team..
Its expensive to go to Croke Park , for a league final and for the Tailtean Cup final. The price of Fuel , small eats, Tickets, Mass contributions away up in Dublin and having to pay your envelope away at home the following Sunday Hu Hu.
The Gaa County team is sure gets costly to follow if you have to travel long distances

We would be the same as we are right down the Southeast corner. It was over 2 hours driving to Mountrath and Birr the last 2 weekends and we were still in Leinster. Croke Park is the other side of Dublin too and can take ages depending on traffic. Dundalk and Longford are over 150 miles away. And all those places are in the same province.
However the cost of diesel makes the admission prices look fairly small.

If this mad idea came in I presume all tickets would have to be sent by Registered post.
Otherwise the population of Inishowen or Iveragh would be a million or more.

That's beyond a ridiculous point to alter cost on distance sure people live in different counties with work etc.

However I definitely think the price of games should change if facilties supporters face aren't of high standard.

For example some monaghan and armagh fans will have to set on concrete blocks or stand on grass mounds in January for €18 while people attending Dublin game in croker experience top class covered stands for same price, hardly fair

Jesus, Tom, how do you think of them. Did you ever write a book. Cork to Donegal will be rubbing their hands.

If you have too many pints berore a game and start meandering then the distance will become longer so maybe get a reduction. Also lighter people should get cheaper seats and the losing teams supporters should get half the price refunded. Also maybe more money off if you not happy with the ref.

With some refs that would mean most of the spectators would have to be paid to turn up!!!!

Viking 66 from away down in Wexford

Tomsmith here from Cavan
Viking while I feel that the abuse of Referees is acheap shop for supporters who are annoyed at some of his and her decisions ( Maggie ) is our top class lass from Cavan. I feel and I have posted it else where....... If the Referee came into the loosers dressing room and explained his decisions in a low manner it would alleviate a lot of the disquiet aboutloosing a game.
Mind you sometimes a member of the winning team will not be happy with the Referees decisions.
But that is life
