Fermanagh were wasteful in the first half. They missed a.few straightforward frees and a couple scoreable shots from play. They lost possession 3 or 4 times from bad hand passing. Cavan were better in possession and subs had a good impact.
Armagh would be a step up from Cavan but second half was a dominant performance.

With the new All Ireland Round robin, they might have more focus on that but they silverware McGeeney in his 9th year

Cavan will beat Armagh, performance in the 2nd half was excellent and if Armagh are missing Rhian O Neill, I think Cavan will fancy themselves, Armagh are no great shakes.

It will be interesting to see how Armagh will approach the Ulster Championship They could bust a gut to try and get silverware and then be exhausted for the group stages. Getting beat by Cavan or even Antrim would leave them fresh as suggested by former player Ciarin McKeever For Cavan there is no choice

Agree Armagh are no great shakes but they have been playing at a higher standard than we have and that will count.
GMc is a must to stay in at full forward if only to stop their keeper from travelling up the field.

Not buying that one. Armagh are definitely going to be at 100% for Ulster, no question about that in my opinion. 3 out 4 go through Sam group stages so that will be the most anticlimactic format imaginable, one dead rubber after another, and provided you avoid a bad draw, lots of time for rest.

Ciaran McKeever's comments during the week are designed solely to create that question mark about Armagh. Bizarre comments about it being "nice" to win what will probably be the last Ulster championship. And Sam Maguire group stages is where it's at . The only purpose of those comments is to take some pressure off Armagh. Thousands of travelling Armagh supporters will be expecting big performances. There is huge pressure on them to get a result in Breffni.

I wouldn't disagree too much with the last contributor. As a traditionalist I would want an Ulster Championsip medal to be a prized possession but if the current Al Ireland format remains and Ulster remains by some distance the most competitive Province then it could well decline. Munster has nearly always been a Kerry walk in park but Leinster used to be competive. At the moment Connacht are the only other Province where there are three good teams so sadly the the incentive for a lot of teams with aspiration of Sam will not be a Provincial crown. Does Mayo's Sunday game help their All Ireland aspirations? And if they win that they repeat the League final against Galway whilst Kerry trot through Munster and Dublin through Leinster. Level playing field???

It's a hard one to call. They've had a tough league and we had a decent one. I'm not sure, though, how much we can buy into either. For what it's worth, I think we have the forward line to cause them problems. We'll need to do a job on O Neill at the other end though; I very much doubt the rumours that he's injured, or fallen out with Mcgeeney. Speaking of which, Mcgeeney is under huge pressure. If he doesn't make the Ulster final, I doubt he'll be there next year. If we're within touching distance at the end, I think we'll win.

Armagh come across as a team who haven't clicked yet. They scored 0-16 against Tyrone and 1-6 against Galway in their last 2 games
Would we score 0-16 against Tyrone in the in league or championship?
On the other hand I'd expect us to score more than 1-6 against Galway even with a 2 Div gap.
No more than ourselves you don't know which Armagh team will turn up on the day.
When things are not going their way they are masters of the off the ball stuff and that's something we don't need to get dragged into.
Also keeping Rafferty within his own 20m line is a must and GMc staying in Full Forward can sort that problem out.

I wouldn't get too excited about our forward line if I were you…. they saw no real marking yet.. We must press up like the 2nd half against Fermanagh to have a chance… If we retreat and hand Armagh the kick out I could see Rafferty scoring a couple of points from play… just leaving McKiernan at FF won't deter him from wandering as he would waltz by him.. It will be interesting to see if O Neill will be back as his supposed injury is said to be a rouse… as he had a bust up with management and walked…

If Mc K and possibly Lynch stay up well then Rafferty won't wander too far.
And to be honest McKiernan tracking back is a total waste of time as he's not up to it.
His best days are under a high ball as he's good with both feet and can lay off.
No point in using that tactic if your 4/5 down as Armagh will close up shop .

Are you actually serious ?

I think I remember : Gmac right foot, Conor Madden, Dara McVitty, Ryan o' Neill, Conor Smith, Paddy Lynch, James Smith, Oisín Brady (1 maybe 2)"
apologies, I meant to say two points from play in the first half over the two matches, the two points coming from play in the 2nd match. I stand corrected, but in the first match in Breffni, our first point from play came around the 40th minute.

100% agree…. McKiernan won't track back and even if he does he can't tackle to save his life.. If he is not in the FF line then he shouldn't play …

Sorry, I didn't realise that Antrim had conceded to Armagh. Why was that , does anyone know ?

Antrim have a very good chance against Armagh , you obviously havent seen them this year , they were unlucky in most of the games they lost , the exception being the Westmeath match . Armagh are no world beaters , so I wouldnt be so foolish as to write off Andy McEntees men

Westmeath should be favourites for the All Ireland so seeing they beat this same Antrim team by 30 odd points…. Have a bit of wit good lad.. Armagh are 1/20 in the bookies for a very good reason…..

So what do we want here? An Antrim win obviously, but hugely unlikely. But if Armagh are to win as expected, I hope they do so easily. Last thing we want is a tight win, and they know they've work to do. We want them thinking they're great so we can be lying in wait.

So Armagh it is. As we all know it would be. Hard to know what to make of them from that. Missing O'Neill and Murnin, they might be back for 2 weeks time. It's obviously a difficult game to glean any meaning from, as they built up an early enough lead, but Antrim showed how to get at their defence as they coughed up quite the few goal chances and took one of them. Yes it'll be different, but have something to look towards and a few goals would help us along nicely. All set up well after we were out last week in a more challenging match. I think we've got a great chance, they don't like us or travelling to Breffni. Bring it on!

A win for Armagh as expected but they were far from impressive… Antrim were poor and how some here gave them a squeak is laughable.. Armagh will be more focused next time out and will have Burns and maybe O Neill available… A tough task awaits us but we will give it our best shot
