Rian O'Neill is out injured for Armagh, and will likely miss the start of rte Championship. If Armagh get past Antrim, he'll very unlikely be ready for us

Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "I know you are on about the Championship but in order to play against quality opposition you need to be in the top 2 divisions… you can't just depend on Championship… My point is Mickey Graham stated he had no interest in the league but when you play regularly against weak opponents then you are ill prepared for games against stronger opponents come Championship which was proven in the last 2 years…. He got it wrong.. simple.. 2 years wasted and we will see what happens this year.."
I know what you mean, and I know what Graham said. That was fine when they weren't linked and he got results (2 Ulster finals, 1 win), but as said many times, he can't think like that now as they're linked and you need to be higher up. We're in agreement there.

2021 was a truncated League (where we played Derry and Fermanagh) and a straight knockout Championship where we played eventual champions Tyrone. It was a mad year, I'm not sure how it's lost year in any way other than it was a joke of a setup and most teams lost out with only a handful of games.2022 it when it really bit which is what I was trying to say, and likely 2023 too. Next year should be better, so 2 lost years (hopefully 1 with a final this year), one Covid year if you like

Rian O Neill out for about 8 weeks and will miss our game if they beat Antrim…

Could be a bit of good news lads n lassies. Word is that Rian O'Neill has done a Quad Injury, and is set to miss several weeks. Defo to miss game with Tyrone, and probably Antrim game. I know Cavan should be aiming to beat the best team that Armagh/Antrim can offer, but this could be a big sway. No team should believe or hope a player is out. One should focus on winning and nothing else. Champo is coming very quick....

Hoping Cavan mix it up this weekend. The Antrim result was a disaster, but teams learn a lot from defeat. Forwards are fighting for places, and this can only be good for team motivation. Give all possible players opportunities to push for places. Cavan have nothing to lose but using the squad. With the game in Croker to come next week, Mickey n his team should be aiming to have the guts of a Championship starting team out to face the Division 3 Final. Its an exciting time. An Cabhán Abú

We were in division 2 for years and it made very little difference most years when it came to the championship we won ulster in 2020 because our name was on the cup and the team form 1 to 15 played their best game ever in the final against probably an over confident Donegal team who also had an extra man in the final the ref who was worth at least 5 points to them in the final . And fair play to them it was some achievement. lightning wont strike twice. We are still as far away as ever from competiting for sam yes we could beat 6 or 7 of the the top 10 teams ie the lower 6 or 7 on our day and thats it. We would be as well off winning a intermediate all ireland every so often which would breed confidence and then go up and compete for sam when we have shown we can win a championship final in croke park. Most Cavan supporters still think it is the 1960 ies and we are really sam contenders. if we win another ulster title in the next 10 years it is the best we can hope for plus hopefully a tailteann cup this year and that is the reality.

Can't believe we're at a point where we're downplaying and denigrating our Ulster win. We had to play against a ref, down to 14 for 20 minutes with terrible black card calls. We went into an early lead, got pegged back, and had to come from behind at the end to win. We had to dig very deep and wasn't just our best game ever and their worst ever. That is a seriously ridiculous way you're looking at this. Have a word with yourself

Fully agree with you on this, we had to come from behind against Monaghan another div 1 team at home also, hard enough to beat Donegal with out the ref as Micky quinn from Longford said in his common comentry that the ref hamstrung Cavan.

High time to move on from our Ulster win in 2020… It was an amazing win in unusual circumstances with the game behind closed doors in the middle of winter at an unusual venue… It's all about what is happening now….

No Gerry smith or Mcveety or McLaughlin on named team, any word on Connor brady or when is he due back? Good to see Oisin brady back.

Who hasn't moved on? I've enjoyed it, I look back fondly on it, but it's in the past. But let's not pretend it was different that it was, I was just replying that it wasn't that case at all.

Well anyone who thinks that season wasn't different must live in a totally different world…. There was never a season like it before and hopefully never again….unless you have a fondness for Covid

Team named. Still no McVeety, but Carolan back in. McKiernan starts, McKenna, Moynagh, Cian Reilly stay in, Oisin Brady back in too after injury.

Well of course it was different, but we won from the preliminary round, 4 weekends in the trot, and had it against us in the final. I just don't get the revisionism. It was hard won, and we enjoyed that win.

Can't see that team starting can you? Mcvetty was on the bench for Antrim so I say he might start as well as James smith for McKenna, Mickey will need to put out his big guns for fitness, we are only a week away from the final

3 changes. No Lynch on the panel today. And McVeety with a protective moon boot on him on the bench. Big losses. Hope both aren't out for long. Smith in for Moynagh, Boylan in for Lynch, and Conor Madden for O'Neill are the 3 changes.

Another poor display and result…. To only score 2pts from play in over 70 minutes at home is truly shocking… ( Fermanagh got 12 )…. Good to get the goals but as I said before loosing can become a habit as well… a bad habit…Need to put things right next weekend and get back to winning ways… Hopefully we have put our worst performance's behind us…

They were 2 lucky goals Cavan got. Fermanagh probaly should have won by more. Cavan looked very heavy legged. A chance to put things right next week in League final with McVeety and Lynch back but another defeat next would be a big blow going into championship

After 7 games it's still extremely difficult to asses how good this team is. A common feature of the last number of years unfortunately.
I'm hoping next week we can raise our game again and show that attitude from Mullingar Tullamore etc.
At the same time I would not be too confident after today, Fermanagh looked so much better and Its not as if we have an outstanding record up at HQ. A very sombre promotion.

McVeety was in a protective booth. He'll not be available
