Replying To MesAmis:  "The majority of clubs in Dublin have as many challenges as clubs elsewhere in the country.

You're deluded if you think otherwise. There are a handful of superclubs up here that skew people like you.

Proportionally there are as many superclubs outside Dublin too.

Every club in Dublin is selling Xmas Draw tickets right now. Including the massive clubs. What planet are you on? We all need to keep the show on the road.

You really don't have the first clue about the GAA and the economic reality facing all clubs outside of your own little bubble it seems."
You're a gas man but completely deluded. No point talking to someone who thinks Dublin clubs face as many challenges as those elsewhere. Laughable really.

Not sure what builders you do be dealing with but facilities & pitches aren't cheap to build or run here either... and we have less members to pay for it. I bet you're not out helping sell 50eur tickets either in the throes of winter... maybe you're sitting instead in the nice bar at the clubhouse having a pint... you haven't a clue.

Cost of land is way higher and finding land for clubs in middle of city is absoliutely impossible. Costs are far far higher in Dublin than anywhere else and yes there is less members in Leitrim but you are deluded if theyre anybit compareable.
Many GAA clubs in dublin have to share/use community/council pitches as they cant get access to land of their own.

And many of those clubs in dublin as they dont own their own grounds then struggle to get Grants from sports capital grant programme as you need to own land/have a decent length lease etc to avail of those grants.

Thanks a Chara. I can see the critical problems that we have with land in Dublin becoming a Leinster wide problem for the GAA in the coming decades, Dublin and the popular are going to continue to spill out over the border in ever increasing numbers, while west to east migration will continue. I'm afraid to say that the problems you guys are experience g in Carlow are only todays problems and unfortunately I think they will only get worse. Innovation is going to be required - we're already developing the "cluster of pitches model" for club and county training, either side of the Liffey in Hollystown and the Spawell. Close to 20 million of an investment, before a spade hits the ground.

It wont be a Full province wide issue in Leinster. maybe in a few of the commuter counties but not beyond that

No theyre the only county where people quote that they have a pick of 1.4 million or what ever the figure is. I thought what I said was fairly easy to interpret...

He is right, Dublin Clubs are "not for profit" i.e. charties, just like all the rest of the GAA clubs. Zero difference between how a club is run in Leitrim and Dublin, GAA insist every club is governed the same. Clubs cannot make a profit or revenue would have something to say. All Dublin teams have to fund raise just like everywhere else. Even a so called super club like Na Fianna only "owns" one pitch relies on short term leases and coucil/schools pitches to even function as a club. I am afraid like most people outside of Dublin you know nothing of Dublin Club GAA at all, zilch.

Also the only county where it's claimed people play other sports.

arock I wouldn't even bother engaging with the Square b lad anymore as he obviously has it in for Dublin, I get the impression some Dublin lad snogged his bird in Coppers some night and he's been ratty with us Dubs ever since.

Hmmm. Am afraid that for one lambasting somebody else for allegedly knowing "zilch", you've shown yourself up as lacking in certain knowledge too.

GAA clubs in Dublin or anywhere else are most certainly NOT charities. They are approved bodies under Revenue's Games & Sports Exemptions Regulations, and while there are certain similarities, they are not the same thing.

You're also conflating how clubs are run and how clubs are governed - "Zero difference between how a club is run in Leitrim and Dublin, GAA insist every club is governed the same."

Yes, all clubs are governed the same under rule book and Club Constitution, in that they all have one Chairman, one Secretary, one Treasurer, etc.

But there are massive differences in how different clubs are run. A club with 2,000 members, a massive clubhouse, bar, gym, and other ancillary facilities, will be run very differently from a small rural club with less than 100 members, one pitch, and two dressing rooms built decades ago, even if the clubs are actually governed the same.

What exactly do you know about anything outside of Dublin then?
