Match Day Equipment

(Oldest Posts First)

Just an usual question, I have seen a lot of football teams lately use VEO cameras so i was just wondering would they actually work for hurling? Would hurling be too fast for it? Has anyone used it for hurling matches.

What is it for a start? The latest GAA "innovation", i.e. fad?

My apologies, you can check it out here, https://www.veo.co/, a good few football teams seem to be using them

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't know what a 'VEO camera' is.

Yeah I know what they are, and for all their 'innovation', they usually don't pick up spoofers on the sideline. No harm relying on a pair of eyes and sheet of paper!

Seems to be what's on trend at the moment. That said I don't think it's near the fad level of those glasses Cian O Neill sung from the heavens about.

I know a couple of junior clubs who use those cameras for analysing games. Becoming more common in soccer as well

No experience with Veo but have used Pixellot quite a lot and haven't had any issues with it.

They both do the same job and with Pixellot the quality has definitely improved over the last 12-18 months - especially with live streaming.

If they work with ice hockey then I don't see why they wouldn't work for hurling - might just be a case of leaving it on a wider angle to make up for the larger field size.

Why are you calling it rubbish? Are all recording equipment/software rubbish in your view?

I presume this is just the same as paying a video man to video games to be analysed.

Its possibly something that may be more cost effective for a club as theres potential for it to be used for training and games amongst many teams in the club or am i wrong?

Just on the heading Match Day Equipment -
Im getting involved with a team as Kitman/General GoFor and I want to bring some professionalism to it.
What do teams/Management expect these days for trainings/games?
Water bottles filled (Do teams still bring water bottles or do players bring their own since Covid)
Bibs washed for each session.
Fruits and Energy drinks available.
Do the Jerseys be hung up in the dressing?
Every club is different and I am just seeing what the general feeling is.

Jaffa cakes and jelly babies! Seriously.
Lads tend to use their own water bottles at training but maybe bring a few clean bottles for the lad who forgets.

Another one for ye.
What do clubs do for washing jerseys each year.
It must be a huge cost to clubs.
The different scenarios I've seen are:
1. Pay a local person/Launderettes to wash all jerseys after every game? Our club does this with a launderettes and the bill is fairly hefty at the end of the year.
2. Get a coach/Selector from each team to wash the jerseys after each game for their age group only. If you had 4 people over the team they could do it in rotation,
3. Give the players the jerseys at the start of the year and let them look after it all year? (ie give them a squad number) The issue I see with this is that underage players may loose the jersey/forget it etc.
4. Some clubs have their own washing machine and dryer and either the coach does it or the FAS Man or Caretaker of the ground does it.

As you can imagine if you have ladies and men's teams that could lead to over 15 teams and that's a lot of sets of jerseys to wash!..

What in your opinion is the best way to deal with this. I'm interested to see what other clubs do and how they keep fees down.

Another one is the paying of referees. Do the clubs pay the full 40/50 Euro or do they get the parents to bring 2 Euro or something to each game to help lighten the load.

In our club, from u8's up to seniors, ladies & men, the manager, coaches, and some parents take turns washing bibs after training and jerseys after matches. it saves on a huge Launderette bill when the season finishes

As a former treasurer who hates spending money I like the idea of someone taking them each week. However it was pointed out to me how much a set costs and all we need is one parent to shrink them or the colours to run!

So then I did a deal with one laundry for all kit and knocked some sponsorship out of the laundry as well. Doesn't cover all the bills but helps a bit
