Replying To Onfor15:  "The CB tried a lot of different promotional ploys for the game. Thats why 3,500 people went to it. Biggest crowd the footballers had in a long time. Could knock a zero off it to get the Wexford attendance for the next day."
That's the worry. That's why I was suggesting they do the same again. Hopefully the lads can get a positive result up in Laois which would encourage people back too.

Replying To gaapundit13:  "I think we need to keep this in perspective, Wexford were missing a number of players from last years championship team V Offaly Coleman- Captain, Porter Vice Captain, D. Furlong only able to come on, L. O Connor, Brooks x 2.
Also, add in Shanley, Martin O C, Alan Tobin, Sean Ryan and Tom Byrne all featured in that win who have stepped away for various reasons. That is some turnover in players, if that happened in any county there would be some serious bedding in time required. I am excited about Cian Hughes, Mark Rossiter and Sean Nolan as they all very exciting forwards. Off we go to O Moore Park to support and John and the Team"
Agree, while not a great result, they know they should have won it and hopefully will not make the same mistakes again. At least they didn't lose, one point dropped, I know it could be the difference at the end of the league but they still have a long way to go. Its unfortunate that we are playing Laois next as they would be favourites to top the group, we could have done with a nicer game but its winter football and anything could happen.

in their defence they played a lot of very good football, they defender very well, put a lot of great moves together that often broke down due to a bad pass, but its january and they have only been together a matter of weeks, we created 4 goal chances which is a good sign, it was clear they have a style/system of play at last and thats takes time to perfect, the ref was not to blame for us not winning, but he was dire, i pitied the players on both teams , trying to do their best with a lad who seemed to have his own preception of the rules, laois will be a test, ud imagine they are a cut above div 4 standard, team selection will be interesting

Laois are in Division 4 for a reason as are the other 7 teams in it.

Everyone can beat everyone in this division in my opinion. We will need at least one win on the road in the coming weeks so we may as well start on Sunday.

Don't be surprised if London beat Leitrim this weekend either.

Can't see London beating Leitrim

Leitrim are a decent side.

Just seen the team announcement. If that's the best team we can put out in a competition we are supposedly targeting then there is no hope for Wexford football.

We should play an annual challenge match against Kilkenny for charity or something instead of entering these competitions.

I don't think there's anyone on the panel who is uninjured and available to change that 26. I suppose I'd start Tubritt and Brosnan instead of Hughes and Kinsella if it was me selecting the team but I guess Hegarty is looking to the future and I don't blame him for that. If he's not given at least 2 if not 3 years to try and build a team what was the point appointing him in the 1st place?

We're at a low ebb but your last comment is ignorance of the highest order.

100% agree terriblefootwork. Senseless and insulting post. Far too early in the season to know how things will pan out. We may not be world beaters, but no team deserves to be spoken about like that. The comment was ignorant and hurtful.

Replying To Magpie2:  "Brosnan is a goal getter and always contributes many points. I have no doubt that he would have won the game for us had he started. He would have been able to bring the new recruits into the game . Experience is the keyword here. Knowing what to do and when to do it. The development of young players is important but you can't leave experienced scoring forwards like Brosnan and Tubrit sitting on the bench until it's too late."
When is too late?
Ben was on the pitch for 20 minutes, what did he contribute?

Perhaps if he started he may have availed of the goal chances we got. I guess we'll never know.
Can see him playing from the beginning.
We can not afford to leave experienced players hanging around.

Why would you put that up on a forum before the game if its true?

We don't know what is going on behind the scenes, perhaps 20mins is all the believe he could manage given the game plan in place. You cannot just have a lad on the team just because he has experience - there has to be a use for him in the strategy they are playing.
