New Stand For Wexford Park?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Seeing that we are finally erecting floodlights in Wexford Park I wonder would the county board consider erecting a new stand on the clonard side.
This does not have to be elaborate or overly expensive but a basic structure would suffice. It's dreadful on a cold wet and windy day to be sitting there totally exposed to the elements. I know it wouldn't be high up on their things to do list but surely in this day and age supporters deserve a bit of comfort when supporting their team.

How would they manage that considering it is basically on a road?

The stand would be inside the ground. What has the road got to do with it? Or am I missing something here?

Think he means the bench seats go right back onto the road. There isn't room for a proper stand with access from the back and a forecourt. Are you just talking about a cover over the benches there?

Yes viking. That's exactly what I mean. Just a basic cover, no need for heavy construction.
Maybe in a few years they could build up on the existing wall which would enable them to put a proper stand in place. To be honest though I won't be holding my breath.

How are they going to support a cover for a stand that big with a road 5 metres from the back of the stand? Its actually impossible.

They won't get planning permission for a proper stand on that side. As countyman already said there isn't room for 1 with proper access, fire escapes etc etc. A cover would be good though!

if u put a stand on that side u would cut capacity by several thousand, not that that makes any difference, as a matter of interest how many times [if ever] has wexford park been full?

has wexford park been full?"]What is the limit on the end terraces? Never saw much of a crowd on either even when tickets were scarce. Must be some Health and Safety issue?

When are the lights going in lads? Unfortunately I'd say there isn't enough space on the open side to put up any kind of a stand with the road so close. I always go that side for all matches, great view there.

I heard the lack of toilets on the 2 terraces is a problem with their capacity? And something about health and safety re access or exits in the town end side?

I believe the plan is to have the lights installed over the coming months, with a view to having the option of floodlit games in next year's National Leagues.

As for the stand idea, am far from an expert on these things, but I imagine there'd be all sorts of issues with planning permission and with Health & Safety.

Zingy, This is a discussion board and I started the thread in the hope that people would give their opinions and that is what is happening.
You may not agree with what I or others are saying and that is your right but for you to ask the moderators to remove the topic is indeed silly and surprising coming from your good self. I was not ridiculing anyone. I was not insulting anyone and I certainly wasn't damaging anybodys character. If
you read the terms and conditions for
Posters you will clearly see that none of the rules were broken. You have a right to reply but we as posters should not be told that we have no sense and that the moderators should step in and remove the thread. I think the moderators are intelligent enough to allow us to ask a simple question in relation to the possibility of putting a cover on the clonard side in Wexford Park.
I am not an engineer or builder and wouldn't know how feasible a project such as the above would be.Finally I will just ask the moderators to disregard your request to remove the topic. I'm sure they will comply.
