However, as chance would have it, none since the aforementioned Morris Minor was something new and shiny and wondrous, more than 70 years ago..... :)

Still 5 more than Monaghan will ever have…. Did football only start in the last 25/30 years…. ? There wasn't even a car to be had when Wexford last won their football All Ireland…. should it be wiped of the records I wonder…?

Would take a lot more than that to sort out that lad. Goes to a football game and expects to see a hurling game. Then he does come from a county where they are fast becoming more successful in hurling than football. Thankfully football has moved on from the era that he craves to bring back. Watched the 97 Ulster Final a few nights ago, dreadful stuff. As for Spillane's nonsense....he realises he can get a few euros by having his paper sold to garsúns like forever blue and bluer in Cavan. I suppose a lad who liked watching tripe will also enjoy reading tripe. The seventies and eighties garbage served up by Spillane and Co. was soon called out by the fans with attendances in the low 20ks showing up at All Ireland semi final and finals not coming close to selling out. I watched he Hurling Final. I won't be watching a rerun. Great game and occassion but not the sport I follow. I have been to FAI Cup finals in the Aviva. Great occasions but I won't be sitting down to watch soccer on a regular basis. Both good sports in their own right but my love is Gaelic Football and I enjoy the good games and the sometimes not so good ones. Was lucky enough to be at the Final and was delighted to see my neighbours take Sam home. Enjoyed the game from start to finish. Have watched it back 2 or 3 times and still marvel at some of the points scored. Give me that any day over the free ridden games of the Spillane era. In my opinion he is just a cranky little guy who throws a tantrum any time an Ulster team is successful. Not surprising that the lad in Cavan can identify with him.

True that our football titles were even longer ago.

Difference is we don't lord ancient footballing history over other counties like Tyrone, Mayo, Armagh, Donegal, or even Monaghan (like you did) with "we have five football All-Irelands, how many have you?"

You never know. Stranger things has happened. Though I hope the breed is strong and those wheel spokes kept fixed as it might be a long wait.

I doubt a senior final will ever be played in Walsh Park. Though we have had a few U21 finals and actually a senior final at Dan Fraher field in Dungarvan.

Waterford have come closer than Cavan since Cavan last won an AI Senior title? At least they've reached a few finals and won one since then .

Nothing much. Thread went from morris minors to horses and buggies to who won what since when in a blink of an eye!

Anything is possible when that maneen from Cavan gets involved. Doesn't know the difference between a football and a sliothar, and is still pretending to be God in a white coat as he stares into space at the butt of a goal post.
