CC has a fair point. Would you go on the EPA site to get the latest club hurling reports?

Replying To crafty:  "I totally agree with you. The GAA has left the stage now and scored a terrible own goal by changing the All Irelands from September. Nobody really cares about club games except people in the club areas. The GAA has handed the limelight to other sports and that can be seen even on this forum. August and September were always the highlight of the GAA season.
Other mistakes they have made are changing U21 to U20 and minor from U18 to U17.
The minor finals should have stayed as curtain raisers to the All Ireland finals.
Who makes these crazy decisions?"
Players and coaches that want a bit of time off during the summer like most of us do.

I've seen the state of some of the building work in Ireland, there's plenty of cowboys around.

No, I'm saying that your sensibilities shouldn't dictate what other people get to read. Your sentiments seem to be in the minority here.

If you don't like it, fine and well. Nobody is forcing you to read this thread, there are dozens of other GAA-related threads.

If you go into soccer forums there is more often than not a non soccer section, so stop being bitter

Nearly every discussion board is the same.
it will likely have a principal focus in case of specific forums like munster rugby forum or a man united forum but will always have sections to discuss multiple other topics other than the forums main topic

What websites only have threads on one general area and nothing else.
they will have threads and forums discussing other areas apart from its own area.
munster/leinster discussion boards have forums on leinster/munster rugby but also forums on other sports and non sport discussions on same site.
same with gaaboard.com. reservoir dubs forum etc

Do you care about club football in Galway? I'm certainly not interested in club football in Cavan or Longford etc etc. I never said that club football should stop or that it's not important, of course it is but Co football is the show piece of the game and now it's all over until 2023. We have let the stage for other sports in mid July and this is a mistake.

Well the admins saw no harm in it so why not? It's not like we're discussing criminality here or devious plots to overthrow the state...Christ above if it offends your sensibilities so much why don't you just click on any of the other multiple GAA threads going...

Some people just aren't happy unless they're needlessly honking like a human goose about something..

yeah the mods dont see a problem and tbf most other forums have far more than 1 small thread discussing other areas other than the websites main area of focus

I've never seen this thread so popular, there are very good discussions on a number of other sports. The GAA club season is in full flow but if the GAA want to move their major competitions to earlier in the year, people will move onto all the major soccer, boxing, rugby competitions etc that are taking place and receiving all the media attention. This thread is a snapshot of the wider media/interest amongst sports fans at the minute. Another example of the GAA's own goal.

Would you prefer players not getting the break they get in 2022 so that the GAA could promote a few more games for supporters to go to or watch on television?

It's debate and it doesn't matter what I think, there'll be pros and cons. However people can't complain other sports are stealing a march on the GAA when their biggest competitions are run off as quickly as possible.

The interest in Shamrock Rovers qualifying for group stage european competition, Munster planning to host SA at PUC or more column pages to PL soccer shows the GAA's usual exclusive coverage window is being filled by other sports, even before those other sports get to the business end of their seasons.

The fact this thread on a GAA forum is as popular as it's ever been shows the impact.
