New Meath Manager

Replying To Proudroyal:  "That is a big coup if true.Would make sense fitzmaurice wouldn't have to be at every training session so wouldn't be travelling up and down all the time.He is very knowledgeable guy who knows his stuff and with o Rourke s passion and knowledge of Meath football and Bray and Callahan also working with the forwards it looks promising. You would imagine every player in the county would be chomping at the bit to play for the management team? The best of luck to them if it's true."
I got this from a source that wouldn't be likely incorrect

There's a split if you are from the North of the county and ya have a chip on your shoulder and ya think world is against ya, the south of the county view meath as a whole and are happy to have a team of North meath men if they are the best players.

Replying To Jinxie: "On the button Brian.

There are plenty of splits in the county, but this tripe that its down to North Meath gaels is rubbish. Thats the sort of midset that stops the real issues getting resolved. Like kids pointing the finger over and back, its them, not its the others..."
Exactly Jinixe, I'm born and bred Kells and I couldn't care where a lad or girl is from, so long as they want to pull on the Meath jersey they have my support.

So I've a chip on my shoulder do I. The worlds against me is it....

The above post clearly shows I don't but keep believing your little fantasy's.

On what should be a great day for the county, with the news that's circulating and the county board doing something good, as you always do, you have to drag it back to a north v south debate which doesn't exist. It's about all you talk about on here. Maybe take a break and go out in the sunshine and think it's a good day for my county and everyone's happy with the news that's out there and smile.

Replying To brian:  "Once bitten, twice shy, but looking at everything that's being put in place, and ratification being a formality, you'd have to say that's great work by the county board and Committee. You can fully understand why they've been as tight lipped and played their cards so close to their chests.

O'Rourke, Fitzmaurice, Bray and Callaghan
Buckley and Eivers

That's a top class management and coaching ticket, Bray and Callaghan have time to soak up everything they can from it, Fitzmaurice can assist with the defence, and it's really putting it on the players now to perform. They can't have any excuses if that's what they have looking after them."
I was only just saying there I had full faith in the CB to get it right …. ;-)

How good is it to see some positive news for a change. I didn't think he would want it after being overlooked so many times but glad he still has the fire to do it. I personally think its a very good appointment as he knows all the issues we have as a county, understands the internal politics game and knows the talents involved at everyclub. It can only be a good thing. I just hope he can unearth some more talent and start to bring some belief back to the county

Ah dont doubt you for a second Joe but hearing different rumours over the last few weeks would have you doubtful of any news. That is some lineup and credit to the county board for it (and no doubt the new sponsor)for getting them on board. Its hard not to get excited and hopefully we will be on the up and closer to top teams in the near future.

I welcome this appointment and I expect we will get something different from Colm with considerable variety in his approach. Expect a much more attack focused strategy where players will be encouraged to take an occasional risk.

There's a not enough pie around for half of us here Longwood! Wait till it's all sealed and delivered but fair play to all involved

Great news regarding orourke and his team. Best of luck to them. Hopefully he gets the full support from the whole county regardless of who he picks.

I'll bake up a fresh pie for myself and eat some, i gave them plenty of doubt in the last couple of weeks, based on what has happened previously, hopefully this is them turning the corner.

Think the fact they have done all this, there were no leaks at any stage and was done and dusted before the championships were in full swing is a great sign. I know there's been a few games already in junior and intermediate but the appointment of a person from within the county can only have helped.

As you say joe, lets get its signed, sealed and delivered and then I'll tuck into the humble pie ;)

Well said, hopefully every player gets a clean slate and makes themselves available. If some don't choose to play that's fair enough. I think to be fair to Colm he will pick the best players available to him regardless of if they're from in the immortal words of Boylan.... Oldcastle, Dunboyne, Ballinabrackey or Laytown.

Yep he will pick the best players regardless of where they are from. As did Andy and as did the 5 managers before him since Seany Boylan finished.

Best of luck to COR

Congratulations to the people who took the opportunity to accept the need for a new beginning... Total support to Colm in his attempts to instill a can do culture again, and where continous improvement means we take charge of our own destiny. Great to see that the sticking plaster solutions were by passed. Well done to all. !
