Kildare Vs Dublin - Leinster Final

May as well start a thread for what should be the most competitive Leinster final since 2011.

Buzzing for it myself, Cill Dara abú

How much store are people putting in Kildare's league victory over Dublin? A big psychological block lifted, surely?

Wasn't hugely impressed with the semi-final win over Westmeath, but then semi-finals are fairly bad indicators a lot of the time.

Honestly don't think it will be too competitive.

Am expecting a big win for Dublin

In my head, every second performance this year has been very good, so in keeping with that, I don't mind the semi final :)

Ahh to be fair, the dubs are strong favourites and a lot would have to go right for Kildare. It's just been a long time since I believed we had the players or the management capable of making a lot of things go right and unlikely as it may be, there is that chance. Our forwards are every bit as strong as Dublin's and if we can keep it tight at the back and not leak a goal, who knows what could happen!

Ryan Houlihan's fitness is huge. If he's available, the Kildare full back line is an entirely different prospect. He ran the pitch twice against the Dubs in the league leading to 1-1 and entirely shut down numerous Dublin attacks. His absence was hugely felt against Westmeath.

Anyways, all going well, Kildare by 2. I can't see Dublin winning by a hurling score, but it wouldn't be my first time leaving Croker dejected. Here's to hoping!

Definitely a big psychological block lifted. Dublin look a bit more dangerous now that Costello and O'Callaghan have come back into the fold but Kildare have the Naas lads and Feely back as well so should have a few more options too.

I recon the Kildare lads will be quietly confident going into the game. It will take a big effort but if Dan Flynn is on a good day and Kilkenny is kept as quiet as he was in Newbridge there might just be a shock.

Dublin after a down year have found their mojo again. Kildare have major issues in defence, if a division 3 Westmeath team can score 2-15 against them what will Dublin score?

I hope Kildare can keep the final scoreline somewhat respectable but hard to see past Dublin winning by at least 9 points

For the good of Leinster football it would be good to see a competitive final. It's difficult to judge what happened Dublin in the league, their first half in Omagh was as good as they've played in a league game for a number of years but there was obviously some poor games. I think when Dublin are focused they're still capable of winning the All Ireland. They'll be focused for the Leinster Final and as a result it's difficult to see anything other than a 10 point Dublin win.

I'd imagine that if we stick with the Dubs for 60 minutes and give them a bit of a rattle it'll be seen as a success on the last 12 or 13 years.

Unfortunately for us I think we are too soft at centre back. We are conceding big scores to lesser opposition than the dubs and it's hard to see how they will have got that right in a few weeks. We are missing Eoin Doyle a lot.

The heart says we can win it, which we can, but the head says the Dubs to pull away in the last 10 mins and win by 6 or 7 pulling up.

Yet another nail in the provincial championships as a whole. All we can hope for is that the Ulster Final is one sided a people up there start to look for change also.

There's a serious lack of a buzz around all of this.

No buzz at all as I passed through North Kildare yesterday, hardly a flag to be seen in any town.
But sure maybe they're all Jackeens there nowadays?

No all the Jacks have moved to Roscommon for the cheap gaffs and dung sambos.

not much buzz in Roscommon either- I passed through the county yesterday and was extremely disappointed to see such a lack of interest in the final from them. yes they may be underdogs and so forth but at least show support for the lads would you

Lack of flags etc probably a reflection on the lack of major interest in Provincial Championships.

If the game was in Newbridge you would back Kildare all day long. If it was in a neutral venue it would be an epic, a game for the ages, talked about for months. But it's in Dublin's home ground giving them a 3/4 point head start advantage.
Very difficult for Kildare to beat that handicap.. yet.

There isn't going to be a buzz when you're playing the games off as quick as possible.

Munster Final 3PM on a Saturday followed by a Leinster Final at 5PM doesn't leave a lot of time to read the pre-match write ups in the Sunday Paper.

Best of luck tomorrow to Kildare senior footballers. Despite the recieved wisdom I believe this game is very winnable. This game will tell a lot about both teams. Go for it lads and bring the fight to them. C'mon the Lillies, Cill Dara Abú!!!!
