Daytona: This is a GAA website...this tit for tat business is not important. A GAA club house was burnt down up North for the simple fact that it's an Irish taditional sport venue. It's very sad for those club members who have put so much into the club. A bit of sympathy lads. It's a sad day for these people.

Sorry. What im trying to say it seems like a vicous cycle up north. In a perefect world the politics of the perpetrator wouldnt matter a damn.

You can safely assume it was done becasuse the club is participating in the junior county final on sunday. As for Dubinmeath and his theory that the club was burned the same night that sectarian graffiti appeared on it is no reason to point the finger, get a life. As foir keano, the people of Down do not need the lend of any silverware especially off mayo as Down has achieved far more all ireland success than mayo could even dream of.

Tom1916, I am genuinely sorry to hear what happened. If it is proven to be sectarian then it is a shame, a real shame.

But I'd like to point out that in Limerick City, a lot of soccer, GAA and other clubs have had their premises destroyed this decade. When I say a lot, I know of at least 6 clubs who had serious damage done to their clubhouses, playing pitch or whatnot. What I'm trying to say is that for someone to do this, they have to want to see destruction of the club first, then find a reason for it. Sectarian or otherwise, it's probably just ignorance that led to this.

Again, I'm sorry for what happened and I know what this feels like.

first very sorry to hear about the attack terrible stuff and i hope ye can rebuild a better club from the ashes of this one. lads there really is no point going into the whole northen Ireland history on this site i have relations in the north and i know quiet well what goes on up there but unless you have actually experienced it then you never truelly know, and the lads from the north there really is no point trying to educate some of the idiots on here about what ye go through up there because some are so biased and stupid they can not see any other point than there own.

once more i wish ye al the best up there and hope that this bonds the club and community together even more.

DUBINMEATH thanks for the solidarity, you are a disgrace. i suppose you think it was accidental that Aiden McAnessepi was shot dead. the gaels of ulster have had to put up with a lot over the years, i thought these days were over unfortunetly they are not. thank you to the gaels who have offered support.

daytona11: The simple fact is that a GAA club house was burnt down! Bringing in the bigger picture doesnt apply here. We all know the bigger picture. I think the lads up North know it all too well.

The nationalist GAA community know about the "bigger picture" because they have suffered for it.

Typical, dubinmeath what kinda gael are you?? Of course this was a loyalist attack! we all know about it up here in the 6 counties! This has been goin on since the 60's and 70's! If its not club houses or pitches bein attacked its club members! What would you know about anythin up here!
Maybe now people might realise why the ulstermen stick togeather when their own county is out of the chapionship!

In my own town on monday night loyalists were waiting to get the tyrone team bus as they thought they were going to be goin through our town! In the 2weeks leadin up to the final, flags and bunting were stolen from houses! Would you have to put up with this??

When you know nothing, say nothing!

Actually, in a perfect world, we wouldn't have perpetrators. Now quit fudging and condemn this arson attack on a GAA club without trying to portray it as a tit-for-tat reprisal of some sort. We've listened to that justification for far too long.
And, for the record, the mindless idiots who burn Orange halls are feeding the bias and equally merit condemnation in the appropriate website.

Thanks Tom, it would take your ilk to interpret that in the wrong way. You're an angry piece of work aren't you.

I'm sure the community up there will come back all the stronger for this though. There'll be a great feeling of achievement when they raise enough money for a new club house. It's time for the likes of the Sports/Culture Minister up there to start earning their crust and get some funding to this club!

Dubinmeath: You really should know when to shut it! Your comments are nothing short of disgraceful! If you have nothing constructive to say then say nothing!
