Alot of vacancies this year ."
Maryland also looking; a lot of local clubs picking from the same pot which can make it difficult.

Eddie Bouabbse the new Longford Minor coach.

My son is wondering what day the Downs will be stopping by his school St Colmans with the Flanagan Cup in tow. Does anyone know? It would be extremely unfair if they left out the other Mullingar schools.

Contact the club directly. Not sure if its usual practice for The Downs to go to all Mullingar schools as that would be a bit ridiculous. If Lomans or Shamrocks won then fair enough

Seems you were reliably informed as Tubberclair lead 2-16 to 0-0 at half time, makes a mockery of the competition. Plenty of clubs have found themselves in the same situation over the years, but despite the heavy load would still would make an honest effort to compete on the two fronts. St Martin's have let their people and County down today. With a bit of luck, Ballyhale or whoever it is they play in the hurling next week will give them a licking.

Their primary focus is hurling, they're a hurling county firstly, getting to a Leinster club senior final would be a great boost for club and county, they would have struggled to win today regardless so decided to focus on hurling side.

The Downs are extremely disappointing so far, struggling all over the field. Will take a serious turnaround in the second half to rescue this one.

Huge second half needed here by The Downs, lethargic so far, mid field not in game at all, very flat performance so far. Likely to be subs introduced shortly.

Tullamore up for that game from throw in the downs were shocking poor.

What was the story with the Downs? I was keeping a keen eye on their progress and word was that they'd give Leinster a real rattle. Surprised to see them lose at home. Maybe Tullamore are better than expected.

That the Downs got within 2 pts of Tullamore at the finish was an achievment in itself.Tullamore better team all over the park from the throw in and would not have been flattered by at least a 10 pt victory.Peoplw had Tyllamore written off all week and maybe the massive hype around the Downs could have cost them in the end!!

Looks like they looked at the wrong videos!!!

You were waiting 3 or 4 weeks to write this, probably hoping The Downs would lose. Bitterly disappointing result for The Downs, far better team than what showed versus Tullamore today. Joe Moran and Conor Coughlan were big losses, not having either player on the pitch was telling. The half back line provided nothing going forward. Tullamore were hungrier around the kickout, they clearly targeted The Downs on restarts. Tullamore cleaned up on kickouts in the first half, this was the winning of the game.

The Downs will obviously be disappointed but I think the bookies got it wrong for once. 3 in a row Offaly champions and list out narrowly to Cuala last year who of course went on to win the All Ireland. Looked like Tullamore got players back from injury with Brazil and Egan but The Downs lost Joe Moran and his replacement Conor Coughlan prior to throw in. Add to that Niall Mitchell, Daragh Egerton, Mark Kelly and Liam Moran, was always going to be a big ask. Credit to Tullamore, decent all over the park although they'll be disappointed with the goals conceded. The Downs just didn't get motoring at all and Tullamore's press was excellent. The Downs struggled at midfield and lost so many of their own kickouts where Leavy and Burke excelled. They'll give Ballyboden a good game but the Dublin champion's physicality will see them through.

The Downs showed a lot of frailties in the county final, where a team with belief would have put them away. They tend to play in fits and starts which was not sufficient for the Leinster championship. A little bit of arrogance as well was evident. Best team won today.
