I haven't posted in quite a while but had to reply to Blackjack. The Westmeath group format would be the envy of many a county. It's probably not 100% to everyone's liking but counties such as Offaly would kill to have such a system in operation. The Biffos have come up with some ludicrous formats over the last number of years most of which involve little or no jeopardy in the group stages. Thus teams could theoretically keep their powder dry until the knockout stages. In Westmeath, the teams in the stronger group have a better chance of chance of playing knockout football compared to teams in the so called weaker group. But a team who hits form in the weaker group can have a run in knockout , the same as any other team. Take for example St Malachys who won the IFC a couple of years ago after coming out of the weaker group. There's talk that the county board wish to tinker with the format. If it ain't broke leave well enough alone.

No team who loses 3 matches should be allowed win a championship I think anyway. Everyone entitled to opinion. Blackjack (Westmeath) - Posts: 11 - 22/09/2025 15:41:23 2637087 Link 0 |
