Fixtures already released. Joseph's play Shamrocks in junior, Finea play Kinnegad, Garrycastle top of section A on score difference over Milltown and Rosemount, all three sides finished on 7 points.

Replying To Bruno@1: "The manager/coach are there to train and implemenr a game plan but once the players take to the pitch and the whistle goes-its on them to do as instructed in training. The lads on the sideline are helpless if players give the ball and frees away cheaply and as I said underperform.A manager can look at his bench but does he see anyone thats actually better than those on the pitch-only St.Lomans have that luxury." Were you at any Caulry games? No game plan or strategy. Very frustrating. Every team gives away frees and give the ball away at different parts in a game that is football
You are naive in thinking management have no influence when whistle goes! If as you say things have been worked on at training then the players could implement the plan or have a plan b

Killucan, Malachy's, Tang, Caulry, Moate or Shandonagh and Intermediate champions in section B of senior next year. Looks very evenly matched teams. Tough to finish in top two.

In reply to claretandblue and your reference to to the Intermediate Championship Group A placings I think you are correct in giving the placings as 1) Garrycastle 2) Milltown 3) Rosemount. I don't think the reason for these placings is score difference . I stand corrected but I think the rule is : If three or more teams end level on points then the following apply's The results of the games involving teams in the tie apply first : In this case Garrycastle v Rosemount, Garrycastle v Milltown, Rosemount v Milltown . G'castle got 3 points Milltown 2 points and Rosemount 1 point. Tha'ts why they are in the order they are in and not scoring difference. The same applied in the senior c'ship tie between Kinnegad, Athlone and T'pass and the games between them meant K'gad had 3 pts Athlone 2 pts and T'pass 1 pt. I don't think scoring difference was a factor at all. As I said previously said this is only my opinion and would be glad if someone could ratify it as correct or otherwise. On a related point this new system for deciding placings was a directive from Croke Park ?? It does appear that it is not been applied uniformly across the country . Why is this the case ? I would welcome any comments that can assist in this matter.

Tang very unlucky some calls didn't go there way but can only blame themselves . Far better team. Shane Allen a super player and surely a starter under new management next year. Caulry poor year comes to an end. Everyone knew they were over achieving over the last 2 years and it showed this year. Shane Curran had their average players playing very well. Eoin Fox and Patrick Sleator also two big losses to the team. Kinnegad into a semi final without even playing well which is mad. They will play winners of Athlone/The Downs. I can see the The Downs coming through here. The Downs weren't great yesterday but they know how to win games and will be happy to avoid Lomans until the final if they can get there. Shamrocks look the real deal. Big test for them against T Pass in QF but I see them as favorites. Lomans will play the winner here. I have said it before on here I think the only team Lomans will fear this year will be Shamrocks because of the town rivalry and past meetings in the knockout stages over the last 10 years. Lomans/Shamrocks and The Downs/Kinnegad semi finals for me. Fair play to Shandonagh. Can they go and best Moate again? When will this be played?
G Castle very poor and were lucky to only lose by 2 points against T Clair. Missing a few players didn't help but there forwards looked way off the pace. Couldn't understand the system they were playing two of their top scoring forwards were in the half back line more than than the forward line but maybe that's just the way the game is gone? T Clair now play Multy which should be a great game. T Clair will be favorites but Multy are moving well. They beat Killbeggan in a very open and enjoyable game on Saturday. Miltown just about got 2nd semi final spot. They will play the winners of St Marys/Rosemount. I have to say I am very surprised in how Rosemount are performing since losing Andy McCormack. Rumour is if they get to a semi they will fly him home. St Marys look to be real threat. Any team can win this championship.
In the Junior its a one horse race. Lomans should walk it. Junior clubs need to step up. St Josephs were my pick at the start of the year but they have been poor.

Shane Allen has been Athlone's best player for the last 4 years, the Iarmhi Podcast must not have been watching any Athlone games this year when they mentioned Ray Connellan but not Allen in their players of the Championship so far.
Athlone are lucky, the above two have papered over the cracks of a poor enough squad, 2 great players and a good manager is not enough to go any further.

Good summary Temple. Not sure about any team winning Intermediate though, Multy and the Bridge had comfortable wins at weekend but there's a significant gap between sections A and B in this grade, I'm doubtful that either of the section B sides have enough to progress. Tubberclair the dark horses and Garrycastle might regret not eliminating them yesterday. Tubberclair will fancy beating Multy. Milltown only unbeaten team in this competition but three draws not compelling evidence that they can win two knockout games. Possibly Milltown on easier side of draw although Rosemount have surprised everyone considering injuries and emigration.

I was in the Park Saturday evening, Tang were the better team and I thought the man in the middle struggled . The first game between Multy and Kilbeggan was poor , I can't see Multy or Rochfortbridge getting near Tubberclair or Rosemount. Tubberclair will tie up Ronan Wallace and thats the end of Multy. I think getting to the top group is as good as it gets for these 2 .

Think that's harsh on the junior teams. I have seen the work going in to improving the quality in most of the junior clubs over the last couple of years. It's hard for them. The 5 sole junior clubs would have a squad of about 20-22 players. The big senior clubs have about 60/70 players to field across 2/3 teams. Not only this, but lads who only get minutes for their junior team will be training week in week out with the best players in the county.
In terms of this years championship I think Lomans are a bit of an outlier. Most of their starting 15 in junior would get into a lot of senior sides. Once they inevitably win the junior (be it this year or anytime in the next couple of years), it won't be long before they are challenging for an intermediate championship.
My point being if you took Lomans out of the equation, I would fancy all 3 of Bunbrosna, St. Joseph's and CFCW to beat second place in the other group (Shamrocks).
Also I don't get your point on Joes. You fancied them at the start of the year but now they've lost to Bunbrosna, rather than giving Bun the credit for beating them, you'd rather say they are poor.

Still think CFCW will win Junior. They were unlucky to be relegated from Intermediate. St Lomans obviously have a big chance, but hear this every year about them.

Anyone at the Tpass vs St. Lomans game on Saturday? A very high scoring game, both ways. Lomans defense still suspect obviously. 1-18 is a massive scoreline. Tpass have a good chance against Shamrocks? Anyone at it have any info? I see Heslin, Cox, Foy, Gaffney, Hogan were all on the bench for St. Lomans, had Tpass many missing?

Whichever side wins the junior and Loman's are my fancy won't have a better chance of staying in Intermediate or even progressing through the intermediate ranks than at present. Section A in intermediate is very competitive with a decent side like Milltownpass finishing fifth but section B has been average to say the least. Multy won the group handily and St. Mary's finished second with Kilbeggan third. Kilbeggan deserve credit for getting five points and safety early on but they must have been surprised that they achieved their goal so early. Castledaly are in a slump losing all five matches and look quicker to becoming a junior club than regaining senior status. They were a consistently good senior side when backed by the Casey's, Kelly's and Duffys along with MJ McLoughlin and Derek Heavin but big families contributing lots of players are not as common anymore and injuries and emigration have also hit them hard. Great servants like Liam Fitz and Alan Stone are nearing the end of their careers and staying intermediate will be their target. Maryland finished well but don't look like they've the strength in depth to get out of section B soon while Ballymore were disappointing.
