Final is a different type of pressure and you often have to lose one to win one. Gowna just need to go out and go for it just like they have been doing all year. Forget about playing cagey, smart etc. The Gaels looked like they wanted to crawl over the line, a terrible mindset. If Gowna go for the juggler, keep taking their man on and getting runners, they will cause all sorts of problems for Ramor

So Gowna v Ramor. Have to say slightly surprised, thought Crosserlough were going to be in Finals for the next few years. Gowna will be hot favourites for this one and not surprised, but I think it will be closer than you think. November final too, meaning probable terrible conditions. Ramor still havent played their best football yet, weather conditions didnt help on Sunday, first half was poor, but both them and the gaels played better in the 2nd half. Not surprised with the Gaels approach to the game. Too defensive. Happening all year. Ramor wont be able to handle the likes of Conor Madden, Conor Brady and Pierson. Maybe they can handle one or two but Gowna have big players in a few positions. They seem to be scoring goals too and could have had one or two more on Sunday. Gowna by 3-4.

With Crosserlough's implosion, Ramor were probably the only team in the county this year that can match Gowna's new found athletism and subs bench. They have also been stingy in defence all year and just tipping along to this final without hitting form yet.

I can't see anything other than a close game here, and it should come down to individuals getting key scores from tight spots under pressure rather than a big team performance blowing the other away like we seen Gowna do so far. I think Ramor have more individuals with this type of know-how in this type of game that they will get over the line by 1-2 points.

Hi all fellow posters as an exile I would like to ask all you supporters that attend club games in Cavan what's your opinion on promising young players coming through that would hopefully be good enough for the county team?are there like quite a few or very few or loads but are not interested or not being asked?are they being monitored by the co spies just wondering what you club goers think as have read other posts saying the standard of football in the county is poor. I've also read Gowna supporters raving all the good young players they have on their team and that's very heartening to read is that true and are there other clubs in the co in a similar position. I would be interested to get your opinions on the club players in the county. Also was lucky enough to watch the Dromore v Trillick semifinal at the weekend it was a cracker I think Trillick had one wide over the course of the sixty minutes honest hard fought game with some terrific scores brilliant.

John McMahon of Cornafean would be my one to watch, a rangey forward with pace to burn, big head and a unique playing style he could be a big game player for Cavan in years to come if given the chance

Not much activity a few days out from the Senior final, so putting up my thoughts.

Obviously the 2 form teams so far, and no surprise they're both in the final. Do think it will be tight as well. Gowna have obviously won all their games so far very well, while Ramors games have been tight. Finals rarely tend to be a blow out, so felt that with both sides, and the direction they're coming from, that it won't be a big win for either side, and will be tight for most of the game.

Even though the bookies have Gowna as slight favourites, Ramor are not far behind them. They have been in recent finals. winning in 16 (after a replay) and losing in 19. A fair few of their lads therefore have experience winning, drawing, and losing finals. Those medals in the pocket and the day itself count for a lot. They've been at the business end for a while now, and that experience is a huge deal. It shows how they've got over a lot of tight games this year, and have been brought the distance in all games so far so are conditioned well if they need to roll and battle in the dirt for 60 mins.

Consequently Gowna are favourites and have won pretty much all their champ games handily enough. I feel they're probably got a fair amount of luck in their group draw (none of the teams they met made the QFs) and it meant they got a handy enough QF themselves. They've barely been tested in those games, but did what they had to do on the teams in front of them, and that youth they have shines through and they just are able to pull away from teams. While they have some medal winners in their ranks, that is from near 20 years ago, and the vast bulk of their lads do not have experience of this day. How will they fare with that? Can they deal with a grind of a game for over 60 minutes, which they've not had to do in the championship this year so far? All to be answered I suppose, makes for a very intriguing game.

I think if Gowna wins, it might open up the floodgates for them as happened in the 80s and 90s. Their youth profile shows they will be around for quite a while (irregardless of the result Sunday), but a win Sunday could propel them forward a level to dominate for a long time. Ramor could also build on their own promise. Many thought the same in 2016, but they've only made 1 final since then. Think Ramors backs are slightly better than Gownas, and Gownas forwards are better than Ramors. Could be a cancelling out, but who knows once they match up and one team starts motoring and gets on top. We'll see what the other team is made of then

We'll see what happens Sunday. Day itself is meant to be dry, but heavy ground probably for this time of year. Could be a slog. I think Ramor will sneak this one on pure nous and experience, but either way Gowna will be around for a long time after the experience of Sunday.

Thanks for your post above, I like how you're thinking and totally agree. Ramors backs tho are way ahead of gownas it's not really close but gownas forwards definitely better than ramors. Midfield could go either way and both keepers are there to be got at. Very exciting weekend ahead

Hard to know what to make of that final, and even harder to make of the replay and who will have learned more. They say the favourites learn more and win the replays, but Gowna were favourites even though I personally wouldn't have had them there. The big wins early in the campaign blew them up a bit, but when in a battle they didn't look like their usual form and didn't look favourites. Ramor to me are the more experienced team, and still are, so it makes it all very intriguing.

Both teams should have won and lost that game. Ramor played 1/3 of the game with 14 men (thought the first black was a little harsh though), while Gowna only played in patches after a good start. Both missed gilt edged goal chances, and both hit some poor wides (especially Gowna near the end when they had chances with an extra man). Gowna have been held for the first time in the Championship this year, and without the goals and the lift it usually gives them, they looked a bit bereft.

So overall hard to know what to make of that. Ref blew at least a minute early to ensure a replay, but felt that both sides would have taken that with the way the game went on. I still feel that Ramor will have enough. Gowna will learn, but so will Ramor. Their experience should see them over the line. If they keep 15 men of the field, don't go down blind alleys and get turned over as often, then I can see them sneaking it, especially if they play like they did in the 2nd quarter yesterday. They got over the line in 16 after a replay, so they know how to do it. Will be a tough slog again though

Ramor very lucky to escape with a draw after the 3 late misses. But while 15 v 15 ramor definitely the better team. Ramor backs way on top of the gowna forwards.
Gowna midfield way on top of the ramor midfield probably not helped by ramors fear of the short kick out compared to gownas keeper. Black was very harsh on Connell and a few bizarre calls too for both sides. Entertaining game all the same.

Good drama and defending yesterday although the attacking players will be dissappointed with themselves. I expect the replay will be a 50/50 game again as predicted for the drawn game.

While Gowna missed chances at the end while on top, Ramor didn't capitalise on being much the better team in the first half, so I would be fairly sure that it is not a case of a small fish missing the boat.

I expect Ramor to learn more from the draw, be more disciplined the next day, and some of their better forwards to get into the game a bit more. This makes them slight favourites for me again but not with any great certainty as Gowna's pace on the counter attack will enevitably trouble Ramor again at times. But overall Ramor's defense stood up well to the Gowna attacker's and most of them won their battles.

Standout players for me on the day were Bryan O' Connell, Conor Brady, Ryan Donohue, James Brady, Ryan McGahern, Jack Brady, Liam Brady, Conor Casey, Both Magee's, Damien Barkey, Mark McKeever. (Also may be missing whoever was marking Sean McEvoy in the Gowna backline as he was well handled on the day)

if gowna can learn how to tackle and stop giving away stupid frees like they did on sunday and then hand ramor three easy points from balls been brought forward for back chat to the ref they will win the replay handy enough as there senoir county men surely can never play as bad again

Em, you could say the same the other way round if you look enough? If Ramor don't get 2 black cards, stop getting turned over so often, they will win the replay handy enough. See how that works? Both sides won and lost that game in many places.

It'll be tight again, and both teams have areas to improve on. Think it'll be Ramor though, they were far better with 15 on the field, and it was only when they had 14 that Gowna caught up to them.

Ramor were cruising away from Gowna in 3rd gear before Connells black card. The only time the game was 50/50 was when it was 14vs15. Both teams will learn, Brian O connell looks to have maddens number. McEvoy was well marshaled too. Game will be similar to the last.. Draw

Penalties can't be ruled out in the replay. An intriguing game, but Ramor rode their luck in the last 10 minutes. Gowna had three shots to win it, and missed all three. Ramor I suspect will be delighted to have a second go, I'd say Gowna will feel they left the game behind them.

Ramor delighted to have a 2nd go? The team that lead for most of the match? They were down to 14 for 1/3 of the match and still should have won. Don't think that's the case at all. They were stronger with 15 on the field, it's them if anyone who left it behind

Any game you play with an extra man for a 3rd of it you would want to feel disappointed not to win

Listened to most of the match on northern sound just to hear how some of our county players performed sounded familiar to the way a lot of Cavan games with chance after chance missed with bad choices bad wides and dropping the ball into the keepers hands not being clinical enough and how we get punished by better teams it's been happening in Cavan for years I do believe that Gowna missed 3 good chances at the end to win it ie county team the same. I'm sure people who were at the game will no doubt put me right on that.

I agree that with 15 v 15 Ramor had the mesaure of them, but that isn't how the game played out. In the last 10 minutes Gowna had 3 opportunities to kick the winner and missed all 3. In most cases a team in that position would have kicked at least 1, which is all it would have taken. There were big gaps in the Ramor defence due to being a man down and they were clearly hanging on. Gowna will be kicking themselves. Under the circumstances I think Ramor (who I was supporting) will be relieved. I think they'll win the replay.
