Replying To Claretandblue:  "Leinster Council seem unable to fix county under 20 games for midweek unlike their Munster counterparts and yet Leinster under 20 football takes place on Tuesdays. Strange."
Yeah that's definitely a strange one. I think Fortune won't start any of them vs Kerry, too soon after the u20 game. Their might be a couple of 15 minute cameos near the end of the game.

Are any of our floodlit pitches up to spec for hurling, it's a higher spec than football. Is this why we can't host a midweek game...

Inter County hurling should be 500 lux of light for a match. Compare that with 250 lux for a club football game..your right there might not be a suitable pitch in the county..

Big weekend for Westmeath hurling, Saturday the minors are out at 2 o'clock vs Antrim. They have been very impressive so far and will be keen to bring the momentum into the weekend, a win would guarantee progression from the group and into knockout hurling, but it would also give the lads further confidence ahead of a visit to Tullamore to play Offaly.
The u20s are out at 4 o'clock, had a very convincing win the last day out to ensure they finished top of the group, Carlow will be a tough assignment but a win would mean facing off against Dublin in the Quarter final.
On Sunday seniors have their first round of the Joe Mac and it's imperative we start strongly and put a big performance in if we have any aspirations of winning the competition.
Best of luck to all three teams. I hope a good crowd decides to turn out for all three teams for a change. Both days should bring a crowd you'd imagine! (Hope)

No doubt a big weekend when all three teams will have to raise their form if we want to progress.
The minors have looked very good against poor teams.Antrim will be a different propsition. The 20's didnt look good v Meath but improved v Derry.More improvement will be needed v Carlow whose teams we have learned to respect in all grades.
The senior's match with Kerry will set the tone fot the Mcdonaghand its vially

The senior's match with Kerry will set the tone for the Mcdonagh and it is vital we win against a team we have a very poor record with in Mullingar.

U20's are available to play tomorrow but I can't understand why they are not starting I know they have the game today against Carlow but that is still no excuse. Conor Gaffney the best back they've had the last few months put in great work David williams top scorer of the League in my eyes this has been Fortunes plan all along now the main lads are back the u20's will be dropped Killian back on frees and I think it is wrong those lads are only 20 years of age and are mad to play hurling. While the other lads were non existent it was those lads that stood up and deserve there place on that county team. So it will be interesting if they even come in. We'll just wait and see.

No player fit to play two key championship matches in 24 hours, Fortune is within his rights, would any strong county play lads in both games? Obviously not. Likes of Williams, Gaffney, O' Reilly have gained great experience in the league and will be important later on in the McDonagh but both managers have to prioritise this weekend and thankfully are doing so

Good comprehensive wins for both the minors and u20s. Let's hope the seniors can emulate it tomorrow.

Hopefully the beginning of a decent summer in every sense, gorgeous weather, decent crowd and two Westmeath sides firing over points at will. Minors prob flattered to win by 10 as Antrim were a decent challenge, Cormac McKeogh, Eoin Meehan, Sean Hayes, Micky Weir, Kian Loughlin and Finn Higgins were most influential, pity to see a harsh red card near end, couple of injuries too, Offaly in last match next Saturday in Faithful Fields, winning the group a possibility, under 20s were dynamic in attack, very potent forward line, could have scored 6-7 goals, Carlow second best but still threatened at times, senior players looked confident today, made huge contributions.

Fair assessment Claretandblue. It was good to see a decent crowd into support the minors and u20s and they served us to some lovely hurling.
The minor half backline were super, Ben McNamee, Sean Hayes and Darragh Kenny were excellent.
Some great shooting up front from McKeogh, Williams, Corrigan, Meehan and Loughlin as well.
The senior lads on the u20 today showed what they are about and it'll be interesting to see how quickly Fortune uses then from the bench tomorrow.
Darragh McCormack and Darragh Smith gave exhibitions of hurling today, two players I'm sure Fortune would love to add to the seniors in time also.
Well done to all involved today. Best of luck to the seniors tomorrow.

Two excellent performances plenty of good stickmen for the future. For us to comfortably defeat Antrim and Carlow teams is clearly an improvement.
Tomorrow we must hit the ground running from the start.Kerry will give 110% as usual so we must get into the game from the get go.Even an ounce of complacency will be punished.
I think the GAA should be ashamed of themselves the way they are organising the under 20 and senior competitions.Counties like ours already under pressure because we are dual are being destroyed.

Not sure the relevance of dual players, there's no dual players at under 20 or senior in any county

Cant tell you about other counties but you musnt have been at many under 20 Westmeath football or hurling matches as you would have seen Shane Ormsby playing both as i would suspect Conor Leech if he wasnt injured.
