Ant seem to see anything on fixtures about the replay of the Hollywood Avondale game? I thought it might be this weekend. Also, anyone any idea about when the u19 football kicks off ?

Hollywood Avondale is the 19th of October, 2pm. Re the controversy at the end, Hollywood scored a goal in the 60th minute to put them 4 up. But referee brought it back for a very soft free against them. Avondale went up the pitch and equalised with the final play. A lot of confusion around the free and the time management of the game. Hollywood looked hard done by based on all accounts. Very intense and physical game. Replay should be good.

Last Sunday proved a step too far for Carnew but when they reflect they'll be happy with the last two years. They've done incredibly well to win the Intermediate championship and to qualify for the senior final this year. Of course they'll be disappointed but Baltinglass ruthlessly dispatched them. They'd too much experience and craft for Carnew. I've written Baltinglass off continuously over the last few years but they kept coming back and eventually they got what they deserved. They are the most consistent senior club championship team in the last six years reaching semi finals, finals and winning a couple of senior championship. I hope they can represent the county with pride in the Leinster club championship. I'll be interested to see how they perform against the Kildare champions in Aughrim on 5th November. Hollywood are finding it hard to escape from the intermediate ranks. It'll be interested to see how the controversary and disappointment from their game against Avondale will affect them. I think it would motivate me to finish the job the next day.

So carnew end (I think) 15 year wait is it, I was in Aughrim today and as a neutral I thought (and I'm sure neither Carnew or Aughrim will give a jot) the standard of hurling was shocking. A bit of excitement on the second half of the senior but other than that it paints a bleak picture of standards. No score from play in first 20 mins of senior and in the intermediate I think all but 2 mins f Carnew scores came from free's!!!!
Perhaps for another day but heads shouldn't be buried in sand. Some of brays older statesmen beginning to show their age I think, fantastic servants and hopefully few more years left in them.

Do you think the poor standard of play is due to a lack of investment in coaching within the county over the last thirty years? I think it is a poor reflection on the GAA hierarchy that the standard of hurling is so poor in 60-70% of the counties in all of ireland - surely as the richest sports organisation in ireland it should be assisting counties to improves standards or is the problem within the county itself?

A waste of time of a championship,Bray basically only got tested in a final as they ****** through the group stages. County board could run hurling championship off in 2 months. Hurling clubs holding the county board to ransom.

What a silly comment. Explain how you think hurling clubs are holding the County board to ransom? The 3 clubs in the finals yesterday are all dual clubs

Is there any/many coaches from counties such as Wexford, Kilkenny or Dublin imvolved with hurling club? We are bordered by three of the best hurling counties in Ireland - is there no way we could tap into their know-how to improve hurling counties in the county? There's been a lot of criticism of championship fixtures but the county board seem to have done a good job with the schedule. Baltinglass may complain they'd like less of a gap to their first round of the leinster championship but there is a need to allow for a replay which happened in the intermediate grade. Maybe if the county grounds had floodlights; the board couldn't added an extra round into the county championship but I think they got it pretty spot on.p

Go to a county board fixtures meeting.

I'm not so sure that a lack of tough games in the championship was solely responsible for Bray not winning the 7 in a row on Sunday. The state of hurling in the county has been a concern for the last few decades and whoever wins it can have an easy or tough run in, depending on the draw. Other than Carnew and Glenealy, there hasn't been any other clubs near the standard needed to win over the last number of years. And of these, Glenealy are rebuilding and are probably a few years off challenging again. Kiltegan have a bit to go yet. It is tough for teams to stay at the pinnacle for long periods. Glenealy are an example. Bray contested their first final in 2013, twelve years ago and were a few years building up to that. That's a lot of mileage on many of these players. I think it will be an open championship for a few yrs now as no team looks to have the capacity to dominate.

Congratulations to Aughrim on their Intermediate Hurling win. This really is a good news story for Hurling in Wicklow.

Its not long ago that Aughrim was lost to Hurling in Wicklow and were no longer fielding adult teams. However, hard work put in at Underage level, through the Luke O'Tooles set up, has paid dividends and now Aughrim will be Senior Hurling in 2026.

Congratulations to all the folks who have made this possible in Aughrim. It's fantastic to have a new team operating at Senior Level.

Congratulations to Dean Healy and Malacahy Stones who were named on yhe Tailteamn team of the year. I'm pleased for both Malacahy and Dean. If Deam doesn't retirn to the senior squad in 2026, this is a fitting way for him to sign off. I'm happy for Malacahy for different reasons. Going into 2026 I hope both yjese players will be to the fore as the team sedk promotion and try to win the tailteann cup.

Congrats to Hollywood on a hard fought victory yesterday. On yesterday's performance, and looking at their age profile, they will be a force in senior ranks for the next few years. Their never say die attitude plus their ability with 2 pointers were an example that I hope Oisin was looking at, or got reports on. I was fancying the Dales all year, but it goes to show that you have to actually get out and win games on the field.

Thats a good win for them but that's a seriously old Avondale team, more chance of Hollywood being around senior for a while than Avondale who have a lot of miles on the legs and are a duel club.

I believe that Oisin has begun gathering his panel for 2026. They have a first session shortly - if they haven't already. Any inside track on who might be in or out ?

Oisin has tended to gather the same panel over the last number of years. This may be due to some players not wanting to commit to the demands placed on intercounty players. I haven't heard of any new players being on the panel but this is nothing new in relation to Wicklow. Other county boards publish their hurling and football panels but this doesn't seem to the case in Wicklow which is a pity for supporters who are interested in knowing who is in and who isn't. Wicklow will need some new blood heading into 2026. There is a real need for forwards who can score two pointers. Depending on whether Dean retires or not, there is a need for a mobile midfielder in the mould of Dean. Regardless of whether he retires or not, I still think a midfielder is required and those quality players like Dean don't grow on trees. Our defence is probably the most settled part of the team but there is always room for man-markers especially with the new rules where mass defences are not longer effective.

An interesting game between Baltinglass and Athy this coming weekend. Athy caused a major upset when they defeated Naas in the Kildare county final. Naas were short odd favourites to win their fifth senior title in a row when they were upset by Athy. Athy are a big mobile team led by Kildare stalwart Kevin Feely. Former All Ireland winner with Tyrone Cathal McCarron plays centre back plus they have former county players David Hyland and Niall Kelly. It will be a stiff test for Baltinglass but hopefully home advantage will swing the result in Baltinglass's favour.

Some good matches yesterday in the u19. AGB and An Tochar look good. I'd say one of them will win it.

The u19 hurling looks like it will be played very late.

Should be an interesting game in Roundwood next Sunday with An Tochair and AGB - that is if it will still be played. In a 3 way round robin and both on 2 pts, the only thing to be decided is who finishes tops, important I suppose, to see who plays whom in the semis.

Am I right in saying that Blessington are out now. Two games, that's really disappointing on the amount of games being offered, competition seems like an after thought. I think you always get good games at minor and u19. I would suggest u19's played mid- week when the adult league games are taking place, after inter county u20s. Gives more games to these players. Didn't make any games, anyone on show that would stand out.
