Replying To gaelsboy:  "Bit harsh, Leitrim had their strongest panel out since Poacher took over and had some great victories that merited a far better finish than 2nd last in league, more like you underestimated us and we caught you cold.
We came back from losing to NY to getting promoted the following year and Sligo will come back as well, would rather avoid Sligo in the TC as revenge will be sought"
Agree, Sligo underestimsted Leitrim with talk of taking down one of the big 3 in Connacht!!!

Remember Sligo were very lucky to beat Leitriim in the Tailteann Cup last year and we had our key players today.
Finally great credit to Stephen Poacher. He took a lot of unfair criticism last year, he is doing a superb job.

Replying To SligoScot:  "Well done Leitrim and credit where its due. From a Sligo point of view, its Shameful. We are supposed to be further down the road in our development than the liked of Leitrim and today showed us up and is as far as I'm concerned an all time low for Sligo senior football.
Listening on the radio seemed like there was no Sligo support. Can anyone give us a run down on team selection ?
Evan Lyons missing? Paul Kilcoyne starting and Niall Murphy getting hooked."
Embarrassing..........for you to post such a self damning statement. Maybe you expexted soneone to buy a programme and send it to you.

A change of mgmt was needed- things had gone stale for the previous 2 years. Let's not forget Sligo under McEntee had 2 close shaves against Leitrim. A penalty shoot out win and a fortunate win last year. It is extremely disappointing to be beaten by Leitrim we sjoipd have enough top players even without the likes of some very important players in Mullan, McGuinness, Lyons, OConnor, Carribine, Ross Doherty, the spine of the team. Maybe a few of the more experienced players should have started but some who did start were poor. McLoughlin at the end, what was he thinking. A repeat of county final 3 years ago.

I don't recall anyone on about taking down one of the big 3 in Connacht…anyone who did must have had too much of the bottle. I recall saying before that whoever won today's game would be getting a double digit beating to Galway and that'll still probably be the case..but enjoy today as it was deserved. Leitrim have ran Sligo close the odd time but remember last years league 0-32 to 0-10 and 2024 championship 0-6 to 0-15 in Carrick. So the expectation that Sligo would win was well grounded in recent performances. It's what's changed on the line that's the issue.

The arrogance of some of the Sligo posts here is a sight to behold

Congratulations Leitrim. Serious win and well deserved. Enjoy the celebrations. McNulty one of the best players in the country.

Gone quiet since he got involved with a team! Might realise the work that goes in behind the scenes now. His heroes down in Offaly hadn't a great weekend either.

I live in Sligo so always want to see ye do well but you have to hand it to Leitrim today, deserved winners, McNulty is some footballer. As for Sligo I thought at the time that the change in management was a fairly significant step back from previous years and it seems to have panned out that way.

An all time low... to loose to Leitrim. Wow. The arrogance is astounding but we're well used of it. Makes these days all the sweeter.

Yep, I'll stand by the comment. We were beaten by Leitrim at home in a championship game where we are expected to win and win comfortably. Sligo are supposed to be well ahead of Leitrim in their development. Yes Sligo are not anywhere close to being a tier 1 or 2 team but maybe you need reminding.... Leitrim not close to anything of a decent standard on all known recent form. Its not arrogance to expect to put a poor Leitrim team away....its what's needed in counties like Leitrim and Sligo so we can move on to a higher table and develop as serious football counties. Enjoy your spotting of a Swallow as I know that in Sligo over the years we had the odd Swallow spotting and quite frankly celebrating this glance every now and then is what is holding back counties like ourselves. So being beaten at home by fellow Swallow spotters and not to call it out as shameful and embarrassing would be a further step backwards. Beat Galway and Mayo/Roscommon and we will reassess
