I have to say and I'm going to be blunt about this but I feel the Sligo Senior team is very weak both mentally and physically for a few years now.
I've watched them the past few years and this year and I'm not seeing that hunger to win. I'm not seeing hard challenges going in, I'm not seeing it in their faces when they concede a score or lose a ball.
You can about tactics all day long but if you don't have the eye of the tiger you can forget about it.
I know the lads are in the gym alot but it's not transferring onto the pitch, alot of them need to get bulked up to compete with their opponent.
Forget about skill for a moment, if I were to throw a ball up in the air or along the ground I'd expect my players to be first to every ball by pure power and speed.
Hard-core weight training to get testosterone levels risen to ultimately go into battle.
Replying To Sligohearty: "I find it frustrating always talking about blooding the players from our u20 teams. Our more senior players are all still relatively young. The Wexford poster above saying their players are around 26-28 and we seem to consider our players old Im not sure the age of our senior players but they are not old. Yes we should be blooding new players but these players if good enough should be able to come into the team and enhance it and not be the excuse for us maybe (hopefully not) been relegated to D4. If the previous mgt was still here, the expectation would be for a promotion to D2 this year and TC final at least, it would be a hugh failure by them if we did not succeed. The new mgt bounce that we expected this year hasn't came to fruition yet. I don't know why that is. They are an experience mgt team and I expect the results will come but hopefully not too late for this year.
Down will want to win all their games and with Mc Entee in their setup he will definitely be out to beat Sligo. We really need Clare to lose next game."
