Would expect they will, didn't Moctas player Byrne get off earlier in the championship. Its a straight red, so there must be something in it if referee saw what happened...

Good man master Greengrass. How is she cutting? Who are your three teams for Championship glory this year?

Good win for Pats and Geraldine's in Playoffs, not looking good for O'Connells.

Can anyone tell me what's the story with the same 4/5 referees getting all the championship games??

I'll have a stab at the upcoming semi finals/relegation fixtures this week.

Junior Friday night in stabannon:

Glyde vs glen emmets:
A flashback to the junior final from a few years back ! This will be the game of the junior championship so far with glen emmets just edging it in my opinion.

Na piarsaigh vs John Mitchell's:
I think na piarsaigh will have to much for the Mitchell's here. The Mitchell's seem to be a much improved side this year but naps have been there or there abouts in the last few years. Naps by 4

Intermediate:
St fechins vs hunterstown rovers:
God I hope this game lives up to it's potential. Should promise to be a cracking game of football. To close to call, but I'll say hunterstown to cause an upset by the minimum Margin.

Cooley vs kilkerley:
I don't know a massive amount about either of these two teams so it's hard for me to say much. Going on gut I'm going to say kilkerley.

Senior:
Newtown blues vs naomh Martin:
This is surely going to be a cracker. The martins are the team to beat and are in superb form yet they haven't beaten the blues in championship football in recent years. Makes for an interesting game, but I think the men from monasterboice will finally get that monkey off their backs. Martins by 4

St Mary's vs st mochtas:
The Mary's have just been ticking over so far this year but it has been enough to get them to a semi final. The mochtas on the other hand have been in good form and will feel that they have the beating of this Mary's team after the group game. Another game with a potential upset. I'm going to say mochtas by 2 !

Relegation games:
Naomh finbarra vs Roche emmets:
Another repeat of a junior final from a few years ago I believe ! I think Roche will get through this one given their form throughout the year. You just never know what finbarrs team will turn up though, can beat anyone on their day !

O connells vs Dundalk gaels:
Again going on form throughout the year you would have to go with Dundalk gaels to pull through this one. Although Wayne Kirwan seems to have freshened things up in the grove a little and possibly just on time ! But I'm picking d gaels by 4.

Business end of the year now !

Glens v Glyde:
Glyde will have extra confidence going into this game after a brilliant performance against Dunleer were they dominated from the start & stuck to their game plan. That was always the danger for Dunleer finishing 2nd in the group that they could get caught by another decent team in the quarter finals. I can see Glyde frustrating the Glens here too, there probably won't be much in it after 50+ minutes but I expect the Glens with a better bench & possibly Grimes to come back in aswell to finish strong and win by 4-5 points.

NAPS v Mitchell's:
This is another tricky game to call because Na Piarsaigh are a hard team to predict. They are well capable of winning the championship but are inconsistent. They were poor in the second half against stabannon. The Mitchell's haven't had any sort of test atall yet, beat the nicks comfortably, got a walkover off the Westie lads and hammered a gallant Cu Gaels team. They have a very good forward line with Matthews & Gallagher pulling all the strings so are very dangerous for any team. But after Na Piarsaigh losing to the Mitchell's last year in the group I think they'll have their homework done this time and are more battle hardened so far this season, so I think they'll edge it by 3-4 points in the end.

Kilkerley v Cooley:
Really hard game to call. Both teams weren't really fancied coming into the knockout stages but put in really impressive performances in the quarter finals. Cooley wer excellent in the second half and Kilkerley shot the lights out in the first half of their game. But will both be able to back that up again. Shane Lennon is a huge loss to Kilkerley and Cooley are a stubborn team to get past but I feel Kilkerley have still a bit more fire power and will be able to produce the scores when needed and edge it by 2-3 points

Hunterstown v Fechins:
Another great game to look forward to. Fechins are favorites to win the championship since the start and have been relatively impressive in most games so far. But in the last game against Plunketts they weren't as impressive and I feel the pressure of hot favorites might be starting to show on them. Hunterstown have been really impressive so far, team full of pace & fire power and going in as underdogs will suit them a lot so I feel they might edge this one, i can see the fechins feeling the pressure and hunterstown taking full advantage and winning by 3-4 points.

Martins v Blues:
The Martins are coming in here full of confidence and won't fear anybody. The blues are coming with good form too after a decent performance against the Dreadnots without setting the world alight. Judge will be a bit of a loss but they still have plenty of exciting firepower to trouble the Martins and they won't be afraid of the Martins after a brilliant championship record against them over the years. But I feel this is a very different Martins team and if it comes to a shootout there'll be only one winner. Blues need to try frustrate the Martins and pack their defense but I don't think they're that sort of team so I can see the Martins pulling away in the second half and easing to a 5-6 point win

Mochtas v Mary's:
Really looking forward to this game. Both teams are all about attack and going for scores. The group was very good with the Mochtas far the better team but still ending up losing. The Mary's have steadily improved from each game without still hitting top gear, they have the forwards to get goals in any game and i feel they're just waiting on young Keenan and a few others to hit top form and if that happens they'll be hard to stop. I'd be worried about their defense on the other hand, they look very open & light at times. But they'll have to tighten up to try stop the 2 Byrne's because if they don't they'll lose. Mochtas have been really consistent and impressive upfront, they're guaranteed to put in the same type of performance again, Casey & Decky are shooting the lights out. They were excellent in the first half against Mattock but were lucky not to lose in the end. I just feel there's more improvement to come in the Mary's team and if they can stop some of Deckys impact then they have the forwards to find the goals to win this game by 4-5 points

Glyde vs Glens

This will be a very close game I feel, with the suspension of Duffy for Glyde I think Tullyallen just see this out with Grimes being the main man. Glens by 3

Mitchels vs Na Piarsaigh

Another close game, if Naps click they can be very dangerous, however the same can be said for the mitchels, I think with Gallagher on form and John Bingham back helping the mitchels out they can win, mitchels by 2

Hunterstown vs Fechins

This is the pick of all fixtures this weekend I think, Ryan burns has been in incredible form and hunterstown are so well organised, I feel this is the year they can finally reach a final. Hunterstown by 1

Cooley vs Kilkerly

I feel whoever wins the other game wins the lot to be honest but without Lennon I think cooley come through this, Win by 4

Monasterboice vs Blues:

I don't think anyone is stopping the Martin's this year and they are absolutely flying, the blues best chance is to pull them into a dog fight, I just cant see them frustrating the Martin's enough to stop them. Martin's by 7

Marys vs Mochtas

A rematch of probably game of the year so far, don't be surprised if it lives up to be a cracker again, the Marys have been extremely disappointing this season as I thought they would be rampant, a lot of questions to answer, they do but have endless amount of talent that could turn up and beat anyone. The byrnes have been incredible this season and will need another big shift Sunday to reach the final, I think there's an upset here so I'm gonna go Louth village by 2

Jocks vs Blues match called off due to covid. 1 player has it (not a stater, but could have been considering Colm is suspended, he's going to the Leinster council to appeal next week and 1 player injured Ciarán downey, the other player is still awaiting an official result) .
Do the blues not have the depth to compete.
With gdpr the louth county board cannot ask for any test results and who has it.
Here is hoping Judge gets red card resinded and downey is completely fit.
We all want to see two great fully fit n "honest" teams to go at it.
Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Sounds like a repeat of the Tyrone v Kerry All Ireland Semi Final Covid Story. Would Pat Soillane, think that the Blues are being the 'Cute Whores' here again? Players injured, suspended, now convenient Covid outbreak.. you couldn't make it up.

The 2 Semi Finals last night in Stabannan was a great advertisement for Junior Football, 2 great games

Brilliant for the John Mitchells their first final in 23 years!

Emmetts will be strong favourites but that's exactly what the Mitchells will want they have the forwards to win any game!

Looking forward to the two Inter Semis and The Mochthas and Marys match, action packed weekend ahead!

Great weekend of matches. And what fairytale stories there was from the Mitchell's and Mochtas absolutely brilliant for both clubs and they're going into the finals in a great position, just like the semi finals they'll be both big underdogs but both have have the forward lines to cause major havoc. And was a bit emotional for Cooley to get back to a major final also after a tough few years rebuilding. Kilkerley played some great football too and could've easily won it but Cooley dug very deep. Hunterstown were very disappointing fechins far superior and will be strong favorites in the final too which again suit Cooley. Roll on next Monday!!!

Some cracking games over the past weekend. Congrats to the mochtas and Mitchell's in particular. First time in the final in their respective grades ! Both the junior and senior finals now have a fairytale story which is great. And of course we still have yet to see the blockbuster between the blues and martins which will surely be one of the great senior championship games.
Feckins and Cooley will make for another great final.
Many seem to have three clear favourites across the grades but i think there may be upsets in store. Only time will tell !
