When is the Carlow GAA Congress? And what new proposals are clubs putting forward? Repeat1944 (Carlow) - Posts: 12 - 13/11/2025 09:54:35 2644245 Link 0 |

How do you know Carlow hurling 'will falter soon?' Underage results are not as good as they were ten years ago, but we are still competitive. The minors beat Kildare and Kerry this year. Whether Portarlington or Naas are closer to winning Leinster, well let's see. But the fact is MLR competed with Naas and Old Leighlin were miles behind Port. Naomh Bríd beat the Westmeath champions, whereas Grange were torn asunder by Kildare. CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 971 - 13/11/2025 10:46:09 2644252 Link 0 |

It's Convention, not Congress. And it's in Tinryland in four weeks time. Have heard murmurs they want to extend the Senior Football to 10 teams. if so, it will just further lower football standards in the county. Grange are not good enough for senior football and neither are Ballon (yet). If anything, they should cut it to six teams with all playing each other once. It would give two more games for each side than at present and mean the top teams meet every year (like in hurling). CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 971 - 13/11/2025 10:51:03 2644253 Link 0 |

Carlow's last hope for a semi final spot this weekend in Leinster with the junior football championship. fairly embarrassing that no club can be seen as a top 4 in their grade at Leinster level. Anybody know if the Fighting Cocks have any hope or if they have an interest in moving forward or is it a case of just turning up for the fixture? more4me (Carlow) - Posts: 126 - 13/11/2025 10:52:23 2644254 Link 0 |

Ah will you stop trying to drag the hurlers into the football gutter! Naas are in their 3rd Leinster semi in 4 years. On previous two occasions came close to defeating na fianna and ballyhale, winners of 2 of the last 3 all Irelands, and expect them to be very close the next day! MLR failed on Sunday, narrowly, due to youth and inexperience at that level.. but aren't far of as recent games against ballygunner, kilcormac and Slaughneil proved. get out to the matches and see for yourself what's going on. I thought genuine gaels raise both codes and not just talk down on one? Anyway we can thank the football for keeping the hurlers fresh for their provincial games given that all of them play football. CarlowJuniorB (Clare) - Posts: 50 - 13/11/2025 21:18:08 2644363 Link 0 |

I love football. But unfortunately all the hate for hurling on here forces me respond in ways that look like I am pushing one over the other. My sincere wish is for both Carlow football and hurling to thrive.

I'll be honest, lashing out like that just causes the divide and makes it seem like there's a hate for football.

I see the issue with you here is you feel compelled to want everyone to have the same interests as you, fair you like both but that is not the case for a sizeable amount of people. I have looked for the criteria to be considered a "Gael" and I havent seen anything to say you have to have a hurling interest to be considered one. So you cannot spout one person being less of one because they do not have your interests. Clubs can decide if they are a GAA, GFC or hurling club themselves, doesn't make them any less a Gael and no one outside of those clubs should be trying to dictate otherwise or forcing agenda's on them either, you unfortunately are a person that wants to do this by forcing clubs to get involved in sports there is no appetite in just because you want to see it. You can read up through the thread for multiple examples coming from you for this. more4me (Carlow) - Posts: 126 - 14/11/2025 11:35:57 2644429 Link 0 |

Yes, in my opinion, only dual clubs are genuine GAA clubs. The rest are Mickey Mouse operations. No better than soccer clubs.

Absolutely. And as we all know your opinion is final.

Huh so CTHC, Setanta, Ballinkillen, Burren Rangers, Naomh Brid are all Mickey mouse outfits. Got it.

Carlow Town and Setanta*, yes, are Mikey Mouse. Ballinkillen, no (a de facto dual club with Fenagh). Burren and Brid are dual at underage, so partially proper clubs, It would be better for GAA in Carlow town if Eire Og went dual, or Asca, Carlow Town and O'Hanrahan's came together. Both would be even better again. CARPS (Carlow) - Posts: 971 - 15/11/2025 11:19:10 2644522 Link 0 |

The manager has stepped down a week before training was to resume (for genuine personal reasons, as I understand). I'm afraid we could have a difficult Division 1B ahead.
