Leitrim GAA thread

This forum used to be a great place for genuine discussion, with plenty of thoughtful contributions. Recently, however, we've seen an influx of so-called Leitrim supporters, some of whom have made questionable and, at times, arrogant remarks about neighbouring counties. Leitrim is a proud football county, but it's clear that many of those now commenting probably haven't been at a Leitrim game in years.
Turning to yesterday, huge credit must go to the players and management. I've said it before, but it's a serious achievement when Leitrim can push teams like Galway, Mayo, or Roscommon and make them work hard for a victory. It's been a long time since I left a Connacht Championship match thinking "what if" - too often in the past the game was effectively over after 20 minutes.
It was great to see all the interaction with the young children and players after the match.
So fair play to what is a very young team. Hopefully this is something to build on, and that this group of players can stick together and develop over the next few years.

This is a Leitrim forum to talk about the Leitrim team, and Leitrim football in general, it has been taken over by a small number of accounts, which is a pity because there isn't anywhere else only the Hoganstand where people can discuss Leitrim football.

Yesterday was so encouraging, this really is a team to be proud off and with the right support they will only get better.

Leitrim brought on 3 U20's.

The future is bright if they stay together.

Agreed one hundred percent thank you for highlighting this. When you're at it you can highlight all the smart remarks from so called "neighbours" please. Thank you in advance.

It was abd still is a great place for discussions but you probably have contributed much to it thanks for that seeing as you only 94 posts please. Thank you.

Well said. Some of the Leitrim fans on this forum think they are still on the All Ireland series proper. It's a proud county. Good performance yesterday with plenty to build on. Getting out of Division four needs to be a priority. Bet of luck on the Tailteann Cup going forward. Love to all.

Galway v Leitrim - hard to see anything but a Galway win here but a creditable performance by Leitrim to keep it within six points would be an excellent result...Galway by 8

Mayo v Roscomnom - I will be in Castlebar on business Sunday and hope to get into the last 15 mins of this game in time to see Mayo finishing this one out comfortably...Mayo by 10"

Great to see minnows doing so well this weekend. Big two in the province were very complacent it seems. An easy path for Galway to the all Ireland series awaits and the best of luck to them.

Don't keep moving those goalposts love. Consistently dismissed any chance of Ros making the final. Show a bit more class. I know ye are disappointed after yesterday when ye had Galway on the ropes ye didn't go for the jugular. That's what our lads did today when they got the chance. On the day Mayo misfired and were disappointing but it was a Rossie day. Good hunger around the piggery. It helps. The big games in Division one helped. All the best in the Tailteann cup. Great days. We're all doing well and the days are getting long. Great exciting night in Cortober and Hillstreet tonight. Love to all.

Would love to get a rattle at Mayo now in the qualifiers, I like to consider myself a typical shrewd Leitrim man and I think we would take them in the qualifiers, Mayo are 4th in the province now behind ourselves and Galway and then a big drop back to Roscommon.

We actually probably would beat Mayo at this stage the way they are looking, it is a pity we aren't in the qualifiers and are banished off to a ridiculous second tier

But Andy said after the game it is a three year plan he has for Mayo, now where have we heard that one before I wonder...?

There are now two different competitions that kick in once you're beaten in your quest for provincial honours. Teams in Divisions 1&2 with a few tweaks remain in the contest for the All-Ireland while the lower divisions compete for the Tailteann Cup ( are you familiar with this competition?)…
The qualifiers were dispensed with some years ago. But you knew this ….
