Replying To Marzo_louglin94:  "Congrats to Manorhamilton minors on their huge win in Connacht. They played exceptional and played proper outstanding football. They are well coached They had proper kickout calls and proper attacking structure, none of this over and back with the ball just drive straight to the end target. From number 1 to 15 They were outstanding. I also watched Eastern harps minor final earlier in the month, Manor have a very good chance they could go the whole way. I find disgraceful though such a short turn around for manor as they are out again Tuesday and the final will be that Friday."
And if Manorhamilton win on Tuesday they'll be out again the following Friday. Three games in 7 days ridiculous scheduling by the Connacht GAA for a group of U17s at a time you hear so much about player burn out.

Poacher and his management look like a decent appointment for Leitrim seniors, main issue for Leitrim under Moran and was never addressed in his years there was poorly set up defensively and strength and conditioning. Poacher and co focus on those areas then Leitrim could well stay up in Div 3 next year.

Sure in fairness won't we have to be parking the bus in div 3 anyway to have any hope in staying up in it and being competitive.

The County Board have reacted quickly to the Graham departure to be fair to them.
The old adage of 'marry in haste and repent at your leisure' may be called into play in the future.
Reports from outside the county aren't universally glowing but we can but wait and see.

Considering the reports about teams already back training several weeks I don't think Leitrim could have waited much longer.

Everyone wishes the new appointments well.

I wish yee luck with the latest mgmt team appointment. I fear it's not in the slightest interest of Leitrim football. No sign of a selector from Leitrim there and I doubt these lads have a clue about Leitrim football. We suffered our own fate from a similar setup recently. I realise the CB backs were too the wall but let's be honest this is your 2nd manager in a row with no intercounty mgmt experience. Dont let yourselves become the academy for new managers!!

Uve left the fact ,that u16 connacht club hurling is on the Monday, and if manor or western gaels(sligo) play the mayo winners ,the day after!!!the u17 final ,that's 4 games in 6 days ,in October!!!for some lads ,as some enniscrone lads play for wg from western gaels ,lunatic stuff

In fairness they have and they needed to, as any management would have had oceans of work do for the start of the season. I'm curious as to what happened with O'Hara. He certainly was everyone's favourite for the job. Like yourself it's a wait and see approach to this appointment... the backroom team assembled feels a bit underwhelming and it is disappointing that no Leitrim man is involved in the Senior setup. Barry McWeeney should have been kept in the Senior setup but perhaps they wanted a clean slate. At least we now have a man with a track record and not a lad with 3 months experience....

Is it even possible to park the bus when these new rules are introduced. If it is possible we are gonna find out!!

Don't agree.Defence has been our weakest sector so Poacher will address it. The new rules will put added pressure on backs & we have a real problem there with possible loss of some of the current squad.

Were there any good backs on the U20s over the last two years?

I wonder who is in Barry McWeeneys backroom team for the U20's. I would like to see Dominic Kelly involved. He's doing great work with Manor underage and has all those teams very well drilled and coached. He's an O'Hara type figure on the lone but he's worth a punt.

Given the new management, here are some players across the U20/Senior grade I think they should bring in, have a few in house games like the recent interpros similar to what Andy did at the beginning of his term. Some are current co players, some are not. Definitely one or two in every club to look at. Some should be co players but haven't shown the interest and likely won't. Some would be co players and younger players would have to out perform decent club players in the trial games to be considered. Would be a worthwhile exercise to identify late developing talent outside the traditional County Squad Structure. Bearing in mind collective training doesn't start til December, of course.

Now that the dust has settled with the Andy Moran/Mickey Graham appointment and quitting debacle (where nobody comes out looking good).

I have to say I'm fairly optimistic about Steven Poachers appointment. Anyone that has been at his coaching days or seen his online coaching content will tell you he's a deep thinker of the game, extremely tactically aware and very organised.
He also seemed to be the driving force behind Carlow when they picked up some momentum a few years back.

He also seems to have picked a good array of coaches to support him. I've spoken to a few people in Donegal in the last few days about McGrath who will be the main coach and they rave about him.
The word also is that Ryan Jones may being involved may signal that him and his brothers will be transferring to Leitrim Gaels and potentially one of them could line out for Leitrim as things with them in Fermanagh seemingly has got messy.

It is fair to say Carlow were incredibly defensive but with the new rules all teams will have to have an attacking game plan and therefore being set up well at the back will be an advantage if done right.
In my eyes Darragh Rooney, Ryan O'Rourke, Keith Beirne and Jordan Reynolds and a few more could thrive with the new rules and space that they will have.
I think a lot of people also forget we got promoted without Keith Beirne, Jordan Reynolds and Cillian McGloin which is impressive for such a small county.

We might struggle without Pearce Dolan, Mark Plunkett and Donal Wrynn around the middle third but from what I seen in the Club Championship Barry McNulty, Paul Keaney, Ben Guckian and Radek Oberwan have the potential to really step up in 2025. Hopefully the new management will also develop a few more of the U20s from last year. Young McNamara really looks like a prospect in the full back line.

Is there any more word on other player who will not be committing for 2025?

I'm not sure if it was the right move not having Barry McWeeney involved with the senior team (I'm uneasy with their being no Leitrim coaches) but he should have a right amount of experience after the last few years to take charge of a very promising group of U20s. Hopefully he brings in another young Leitrim coach or two with him and then the likes of James Mannion or an outside coach to assist him.

It also hard to understand how James Glancy is not involved with any Leitrim teams when you see how well his Glencar Manor Minors are doing along with how well the Roscommon Gaels team he coached did in the Championship. The county board need to settle their differences with him.

Glencar Manor U17s beat the Sligo champions 1-15 to 0-10 tonight and will face Oranmore in the final.

Glencar Manor on Friday will play their 3rd match in 7 days and it will be Oranmores 2nd game.

Congrats to the Glencar Manorhamilton minors super result in connacht. Outstanding level of football once again. A very promising future for Glencar Manor. Main stand out players where the goalkeeper young Sheridan with 2 top class saves, young gilligan top drawer interceptions, Bailey mcbride dominant in middle field and Jack Kelly was very good once again. Best of luck to them, go the whole way!

Well done to Manor, hopefully they go on to win the final what a boost that would be for Leitrim football. Manor have been struggling a little at senior level the last few years but the future looks bright for them. Ridiculous though they have to play again Friday evening - what's the rush to get it played so quickly, surely they could allow at least a week between games?

There doesn't need to be a Connacht minor championship at all so I don't know why you're so obsessed with the timing of it. It has always been played off within a week and it's just unfortunate if you get put into the QF and have to play 3 games to win it.

It's scheduled when the schools are closed because most those lads are playing with school teams and I can imagine they have no great complaints as it's all bonus territory.
