I think it will come down to the ref how soft he will give frees,if Mohill get frees as soft as they got them in the semi ,beirne will win it for them and Mohill will be there for a few years yet

I wasn't at the game Sunday with aughnasheelin and gortletteragh but gort deserved the win by reports I'm hearing. I've seen aughnasheelin play this year and you wouldn't recognise the team to last years one that walked the intermediate championship. Its a pity with the talent in their ranks that they didn't drive on, they have more potential than the ones named Annaduff, Allen Gaels or kiltubrit. They demolished annaduff and kiltubrit in Carrick. Gort have something to work with all the young players, pity about heslin leaving for oz. Only fair way is one up or one down you have to earn the right to play senior, losing a intermediate final and getting to senior doesn't make much sense. There is 3 senior teams in leitrim realistically marys, mohill and fenagh. After that there all intermediate level let's be honest about it. The standard is poor enough, you'd imagine our senior champions wouldn't even win intermediate in connaught and that's just where we're at. Marys and a handful of other clubs have started back at grass roots to build players but keeping them around for adult football is hard.
On a side note fair play to brendan flynn, Alan mc loughlin and Darragh Rooney for their achievements so far great to see them performing so well in Dublin club championship. That level of competition can and will only make Darragh especially into a top inter County forward that he can be for us.

One suggestion for TV coverage from Páirc Sheáin. It'd be a lot better if they had the cameras on the other side and show most of the crowd and the new stand. Currently games look as if they're bring played in front of a couple of hundred at most in a decrepit ground.

I'd be of the view that St Mary's will win this weekend and win comfortably.

Beirne and Jordan Reynolds are the difference makers for Mohill but there's no way they will get the same space they were afforded against Fenagh. If Reynolds can steady his shooting he has the potential to destroy teams with his direct running.

Mary's don't have any one stand out player they all seem to be your modern middle third power runners. Nicholas McWeeney and his runs from deep seem to be one of their main attacking outlet so it'll be interesting to see if Mohill try to Man Mark him.

Paul Keaney may have the potential to become a game changer but outside of his exploits with his University last year he has been a disappointment outside of his free taking. He will have a good battle with Shane Quinn. That tussle will go a long way to determining the outcome of the game.

Jack Casey and Ben Guckian look like they have all the talent in the world and will be two players that the county team will be looking towards in the coming years. However, can they do it on the big day? James Mitchell on Casey will be a good battle and I would say Harkin will take Guckian which should also be tight. Guckian could be the difference maker if he has a good game. I was very impressed with him in the last few games. I thought it was all hype about him previously.

I've a feeling Mohill may go ultra defensive and hope to play on the counter-attack whilst clogging up their defence and that Beirne will be able to do enough to get them over the line. As otherwise their forwards will be tracking St Marys runners from deep. I'm not sure the likes of Domhnail Flynn, Alan Armstrong, Ronan Kennedy etc. have that in them or are conditioned to play that sort of game on a big pitch. Last thing Mohill need is Beirne back in his own half defending. So that means they needs a player able to do the running for two men.
Unless O'Hara starts Conor Quinn and Eanna Madden and tries to fight fire with fire and take St Marys on with their running game? and bring on the likes of Ronan Kennedy etc. in the final quarter.

Same applies to Beirne and Mohill they've won a few championships and got to a shed full of them in the last 10 years but more often then not they've blown it on the day even when they have been huge favorites.
Beirnes scoring feats are remarkable for club and county but theres no doubt alot of people still doubt him when games come down to the crunch. It'll be interesting to see how he performs this weekend because Alan Flynn and Mary's will have a plan for him. Do St Mary's trust Mark Diffley to man mark him or will they bring in Michael McWeeney? Personally I think it's a two man job especially as Mohill don't have a hell of a lot of other scoring forwards.

Pressure on both teams Goalkeepers. Tighe for Mohill has been okay throughout the years but his Kickouts are poor (at best) and Mary's will try squeeze the life out of him. If he crumbles Mary's will win easy.
Sean Reynolds in goals for Mary's is arguably under more pressure. His howler against Ballinamore kept them in the game for way longer than they should have been. Many including the county management think that St Mary's second choice keeper (Gaffey) is a far better player so theres no doubt Mohill will try get at him aswell.

Personally I think this is the start of something for Marys and the end of the road for this generational Mohill squad. Even when it comes down to the respective managements I would assume nearly everyone would pick Alan Flynn over Eamon O'Hara.

Good weather forecasted so that should save the county board some embarrassment and I'd expect a huge crowd from two big town teams and its a game that should interest any neutral.

I was reading the Observer's review of the Junior A semi between Cloone and Glenfarne when I came across this poorly researched remark: "Hard to believe but this was the first ever championship clash between these club's first teams." Eh? They played each other in the 2014 intermediate group stage, the 2016 intermediate relegation semifinal, the 2017 intermediate championship group stage, the 2020 Junior A group stage, and the group stage of..... this year's Junior A. Who comes up with this stuff?

Really looking forward to Sundays game, weather seems to be playing ball too. If Carrick can't deal with KB then it's a Mohill victory. Hoping for a classic and best of luck to both teams.
