Replying To TaytoFoley:  "Can anyone explain how the county board (Bord na Nog) sanctioned an amalgamation between Fenagh and St. Francis in u17? It's a disgrace in my opinion, that this was allowed to happen. Both clubs are strong at this level and well able to field their own teams, hence they can field a second team in Div2. Now, because they are so strong, they are hammering all around them. It seems Fenagh can pick and choose which teams they can amalgamate, because none of their other underage teams have amalgamated. How is this any benefit to football within the county, when other teams that work hard to put out their own teams, are getting hammered."
yeah seems a bit strange with the numbers involved. also seen a post from Drumkeerin GAA about abuse from some supporters of the Fenagh/Allen Gaels amalgamation towards a Drumkeerin player. thats not considering these players are all 15, 16, 17 year old kids.

100%.. I think Tommy's record speaks for itself. No manager would stick around with a culture like that.

All you moaners about the underage structures in Leitrim should crawl back under the stones you came from following our U16 team making it to the Fr. manning Cup Final. Both the U16 & U15 teams are coached by people who have high level Coaching Badges. Leitrim play Longford in the Final in August while the U15 are in the Semi Final of the Humphrey Kelleher Cup probably against Fermanagh next week. Sadly the Leitrim Observer have ignored the progress of both teams for some reason.Well done to both teams & mentors.

Enda Lyons took over them and is doing relatively well so it's too bad

What was the final verdict on this? I'm hearing 500 euro fine for Glera and replay the match?

Replying To gaelsboy:  "I seen that Mohill's second team conceded their game Sunday despite being at the top of the league and their 3rd team played their game scheduled for directly after and won well... why? was it to ensure their 3rd team were strong enough to win and get to top of div3? is this not a bit farcical? is there no implications for a team conceding when a lower graded team plays on same day? I guess not bar the standard fine. In Dublin, the higher graded team must always fulfill fixture first and see then if next graded team can fulfill, if higher team concedes and lower team fulfills, the lower team gets thrown out of that competition."
Agreed, it's a strange one. Does anyone know the rules on this? Should they have to forfeit those points?

No mention of it in the Mohill notes, which are usually very detailed, and sometimes critical of other clubs/Leitrim GAA -- most recently some clubs choosing not to field/release players for the Thursday night u20 matches.

I see the second team plays this evening needing a win to secure their final place, while the third team plays tomorrow, joint first in the table with 2 games to go.

Good to see, winning 3Manning Cups in a row definitely helped build confidence in Sligo Minors over last number of years, best of luck in both competitions

Too bad for Tommy? I doubt he's too worried... maybe it was the kick up the arse they needed. He has nothing to prove and if players don't like the way he operates, that's on them.

Slightly off topic but looking at the results on Leitrim GAA website, there seems to be a disproportionate amount of game's WO/SCR at reserve but more worryingly at U 20 level.

I think timing was a issue, should have been ran after the u20s lost to galway maybe 3/4 weeks later before the senior leagues really got going
Also thursday nights
Lads playing thurs/sat/thurs/sat and maybe play for 2nd or 3rd teams aswell add in another game or 2

Leitrim need to push on now and win the final in a few weeks. The team is very talented but needs to stop giving away soft goals

Fr Manning cup use to be ran by Longford GAA and was well represented by a number of counties. Last few years it's a national ran comp and with only a few teams taking part now as others are put into other comps.

Just would worry of big drop out at this age group. Are we failing players as they move onto senior level.

If you play it after the u20 competition then you can't play it midweek as students are still in college

Sligo Clare Longford and Leitrim were part of Group 1.

Leitrim topped this group and played Wicklow who were second to Wexford in Group 2.The other teams in that group were Carlow and Waterford.

Longford who were runners up in Group 1 defeated Wexford in the other semi final.

Leitrim and Longford now compete in the final

I think the big area of concern is u17s and lack of games at that age group, it is better this year than last year some miror teams only played 7 games all year last year which is no where near enough, so lads 16 , 17 years of age played nearly nothing but expected to train all year for that amount of games
Thats where you will.have the drop out

yes i agree with that, and the U17 regional competition that was started wasn't actually finished.
