It's a tough ask. For the Moycullen squad to beat mayo 2 morrow evening I suppose they have few salthill and Mountbellew lads with them ,, ,,

Joyce doesn't believe in resting players too much does he? Kerry will be only starting 4 of their All-Ireland final team away to Donegal this week the very opposite with Galway.

That looks like we will be dropping a lot of bodies back.
I'm not expecting a classic.

Have to say I'm surprised and disappointed with that selection. Almost zero experimentation. Ian Burke and Barry McHugh are not even named on the subs bench!

Putting McHugh and Burke on the bench would hardly be a shot in the arm for experimentation. Both of those players are experienced county men from KWs tenure.

Joyce's selection policy seems to be very like Shefflins with the hurlers. He has a core team, and he's looking to fill the gaps he needs to fill, rather than heading to the drawing board to make every selection.

Barry McHugh was let go from the panel and Burke was expected to start but apparently has a knock.

The team is not that weak overall but I think are not as strong in defence with some new faces. This could be a good thing in the long run as we need to find some new backs with Molloy and Silke gone for the year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Glynn or Conroy dont start, Glynn has been struggling with a groin injury so it feels a bit quick for him to be thrown in.

I envisage Galway keeping it tight, dropping numbers back to cover and a low scoring affair. Overall I think Mayo will be hungrier for the win and will probably sneak it. Ideally we get something out of it but it won't define our season if we don't

Burke must be injured. McHugh gone off panel.

Mayo have a lot of work done since last September back when they first had some trials. Especially fitness work. Galway got back in late November but they've had a lot of players missing until after Christmas because of club commitments. Preparation just hasn't been the same so Mayo have a definite edge in that department for the time being.

No I dont think that team will start either. That centrefield partnership is simply not good enough at winning primary possession. While John Maher and Peter Cooke seem to be everyones front runners for the position I would love to see Matthew Barrett getting an oppertunity to see what he can do at County level as he is the best high fielder of a ball in Galway club football

McHugh was dropped after the Fbd - in fairness he did not really take his chance in that competition. Even in the Leitrim game which was over at half time he was quiet.
Burke has a knock I believe.

Who'll be the free taker in Walsh's absense? Likely Finnerty or Conneely from that starting 15?

I'd imagine Tierney will be on the long frees/45s

Which players are Kerry resting in particular?

To my knowledge its the two Clifford brothers. Exact same as Joyce is with Shane Walsh no?

Shane Ryan, O'Beaglaoich, O'Connor, O'Shea, O'Brien and Geaney are all injured. I don't see McGrath, Ian Burke or Patrick Kelly on the Galway teamsheet, so im assuming Joyce also doesn't play injured players? Gavin Whyte is long term injured, like Mulkerrin or Kieran Molloy. David Moran's retired, similar to Liam Silke departing

What exactly is your point? What is Joyce doing that Jack O'Connor's not doing?

Won't be many changes as Joyce isn't known for making many to a published team unless any late injuries.

Good number of that starting team also started the last challenge against Westmeath.

A lot of football for the likes of Rob Finnerty and Tierney already this month.

I would say Finnerty will take the frees from the right hand side and Dessie the ones on the left.
Tierney to take the long range ones.

That's good news about Burke, I was worried he was dropped.

Conneely from the left, Finnerty from the right hopefully.

100%. The only lads being rested for Kerry are the ones that played in an all Ireland club final two weeks ago. They have a lot of lads out injured.
