I've been at the 3 home league games and sounds like the same problems are repeating themselves over and over.

Well we conceded 4 the last day out as well, soft or not they all count and as a result of something going wrong. So do you think everyone is not bought into the game plan, there is none or we don't have the players that suit it if there is one? Look at the Shels last year, not a star studded team by any means but they had a plan that everyone seems to have bought into. Lack of quality scoring forward has been a problem in the county for a few years and if you don't have them you have to have another plan.

Soft goals conceded have killed us in most of the games we have lost the last couple of years. In general play we werent any worse than anyone we lost to except Dublin last year, and maybe Sligo and maybe Cavan this year.

And we weren't any better than the teams we beat. London and waterford

True too. I dont think theres much between most of the teams in div3 and div4. Including us.

management badly need a forwards coach on board or if they have one they need a new one, thought we had it in bag yesterday half way in 2th half, the forwards seem to have no shape, no structure, the 1/2 forwards seem obsesssed with defending Stmunnsriver (Wexford) - Posts: 2971 - 21/03/2022 16:05:18 2406272 Link 0 |
Genuine question on this, as you have seen the team in all the games so far, you though that we have improved this year but we are still (depending on the results this weekend) the 2nd or 3rd worst team in the country - do you still think that and if so then why are we still losing? as I am not at the games I will rely on what the people who are at them have to say - the lack of cohesiveness in the squad seems to be an issue? is it the players, the game plan or the coaching?

There is no issue with cohesiveness in the squad. The fact we chop and change virtually every game (enforced changes aside) suggests its purely a talent/lack of commitment issue unfortunately. At the Leitrim game the other day, Moran was balling some of his players out of it. And they are in the shake-up for promotion. We are nearly too nice. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1486 - 22/03/2022 13:44:24 2406472 Link 0 |
I was sat near the Wexford dugout last Sunday and there was no meaningful contribution from the sideline in any way. One of the backroom team spent the entire second half watching the racing from Chepstow on his PP app!

It does seem our same old failings aren't being addressed, particularly our tendency to drop shots short into the GKs hands. We fluffed a few marks (one advanced one from Shanley), with Malone and Brosnan undercooking shots from play too. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1486 - 23/03/2022 15:15:13 2406706 Link 0 |
That's shocking if true. Watching racing during the game!!!! The guy should be told to get the hell out of it and his services ( or lack of service) was no longer needed. Hopefully you are mistaken because if you are correct in what you say then the county board should act straight away. I fear for our chances against Offaly in the championship.

Don't know weather to laugh or cry if that's true.

Yes. Better changing from within rather than being a quitter.

sorry took a while to think about that, and with my glass half full view of football i think its not a lot in it and we could have won all our games ,ever cavan game, as iv said its the forwards that are the problem , they seem to lack shape, structure, a game plan, we are not getting our shooters like tubitt/rossitor into shooting positions, to me the center forward is the 2th most important position on a football team, after center back, and we lack a play maker there, shane could have a point and things could come right yet , but as iv said we need a forward coach
