Wondering who will get the the whistle. To be honest I wouldn't mind Conor Lane I still think he is one of the best if not the best ref. Can't judge him on one bad outing. cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 548 - 29/08/2021 20:21:19 2376143 Link 0 |
Hard to see Galway beating Monaghan, Tyrone or Donegal in a Championship game. Yes they have good players and yes they do well in the League but good players dont necessarily make a great team and League is League and Championship is Championship.

I think we should take the new Galway poster with a Pinch of salt. He might not be even from Galway. He talks about us underestimating Galway….they have not won a knockout championship game in Croke Park in 20 years!!!! They have beaten Kerry in a super 8 game…their only victory. They will likely laugh and mock us if we lose against Tyrone but at least we are competing and trying. This is a total joke…Galway for all the talent and resources they have are a joke. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11661 - 29/08/2021 20:59:07 2376157 Link 6 |
Keep at it... Dooher is going to have your comments up in the wall in Garvaghy... Absolute tripe..

True some very deluded people in Galway still think were relevant Were a long way from beating any top team Lets see how we get on in Div 2 Thats right div2 lol rhudson (Galway) - Posts: 1478 - 29/08/2021 21:14:03 2376165 Link 1 |
Settle down Yew! You start off talking about this new yolk who "might not even be from Galway" and then finish out your post ranting about Galway! It's easier to find Galwegians on here voicing their support for Mayo in the coming game, than it is to find begrugers. Will we take the micky out of ye if ye get beaten? Course we will. And ye'd do the same to us. But we'll also be the first ones on here to congratulate ye when the impossible happens. :) festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3152 - 29/08/2021 21:58:42 2376189 Link 4 |
There's a mindset out there that believes the final is a done deal for Mayo and it's their time. I have been on a few various GAA forums and there is definitely an element, including Mayo fans, labelling Tyrone as rough horses who can't play football. I hope they continue to push that narrative as it will totally suit Tyrone. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9819 - 29/08/2021 22:44:09 2376203 Link 0 |
You sound as if you're about 12.

Don't agree, Conor lane was in charge for the mayo Galway game this year and made some shocking decisions there too.

I see something great in this Tyrone team. Many judging them very unfairly, it was shocking that Spillane outburst. But why should Tyrone care what anyone thinks? Mayo will have their hands full with these slippery sharks.

The poster you refer to may indeed not be from Galway which makes your rant about Galway all the stranger. If that poster really thinks we would beat Kerry or Dublin then they need to seek help. You're right about one thing. We are a joke in football and have been for some time. Then again, if you're going to display the attitude in your post, I guess it would help if Mayo were winning All-Irelands on a regular basis. Talk about 'competing and trying' is all very well. There's little point though in getting to Croke Park in September only to come second. Ailteoir (Galway) - Posts: 917 - 30/08/2021 00:52:43 2376234 Link 1 |
Why can't both of them lose? Think I will take a break until next spring TrimJim (Meath) - Posts: 24 - 30/08/2021 02:52:03 2376240 Link 2 |
I will definitely be cheering for Mayo as I have done in every all-Ireland final they have played from 1989 onwards. It is a genuine 50-50 game and neither side is carrying any psychological baggage concerning the other so it has the makings of a cracking contest. May the best team win.

I might be alone but I thought Kerry the better team on Saturday. They got more scores, have several ref calls go against them, and had one of these days when everything went against them especially with the goal chances. Morgan landed a once in a decade free which in the end was the difference. Tyorne were well on top in the rough and tumble end of things yet again but I cannot see that happening v the new Mayo. I expect David Gough to ref the final and he will be much sharper in dealing with off the ball fouls, verbals and more. martinjoe (Mayo) - Posts: 558 - 30/08/2021 07:19:49 2376249 Link 3 |
I think this is a reward for two teams who over the past 10 years and despite their critics believe that every year they can win an all Ireland and set out their stall accordingly. Yes the records show they are not as good as Dublin but from a Tyrone point of view I was expecting them to beat Dublin in 2017 and 2018 and it was a major blow when they didn't. 2019 I think we missed a trick when we had Kerry on the ropes in the semi final. i think the semi final s will have two affects . on mayo they may feel as though they have won their all ireland after beating dublin while dooher and logan will bring tyrone down to earth quickly , tyrone were much better than kerry and will be hard to beat . but mayo wont be a pushover

Based on the amount of mistakes both Kerry and Tyrone made on Saturday, I didn't think the performance of either side would have been sufficient to beat Dublin. Tyrone's long kick-outs were dominated by Kerry for long periods, yet Kerry couldn't put that to good use and still should have been beat in normal time despite Tyrone being a man down for 20 mins and hitting a load of wides.
