Replying To AfricanGael:  "Well were Mayo ever favorites going into any of those finals ?

I doubt if they were, but they will be slight favorites now and that's what I mean by complacency."
In 1997 they were slight favs against Kerry.

Replying To endgame:  "The goalkeeper Morgan is a liability for Tyrone.I wouldn't want him taking a free kick to save my life. Tyrone need to change their keeper for the Final. Mayo are favourites but it's really 50/50. Great chance for both counties to win an All Ireland."
Yeh should be a cracker, no shrinking violets on show that day. Blood and guts final, exactly what the sport needed, and non Dublin & Kerry decider.

Didn't think we would be facing Tyrone after all their covid problems.
I think Kerry thought the same and overtrained in the last week, hence all the early cramp problems. Did they write off Tyrone and aimed to peak for the final ?
History tells us you write off Tyrone at your peril.

Mayo will over run Tyrone and should win by 10-15 points easily

Replying To galwayford:  "Who would Mayo have preferred, well deep down I believe they are relieved they are not playing Kerry. How many times down the years have they lost to them in finals. Tyrone will not fear the Mayos, and the Mayos will need their A game to win. That means imho playing Aidan O Shea."
Just on Aido, if Mayo were playing Kerry, O'Shea v Moran in midfield, could work. Against Tyrone don't see him being a positive midfield or up front.

And the Extra time adding to the drama"

Mayo are delighted tyrone won today. Sure didn't David brady say he'd be jumping for joy on off the ball if tyrone won. They have a bad record against kerry and they've no fear of tyrone.

Where can I get a ticket or how are they distributed?

I really think the idea of one team "wanting it more" is complete nonsense. Its just a cliché. Both teams will want it like they want nothing else, as proven by their semi final displays. In fact, wanting it too much can lead to rash play and poor decision making. Whichever team takes their chances and also has a little bit of luck will probably win. Black or red cards could also prove decisive.

Through your club is the only option. Or win a raffle that every club in the country seems to be doing with their "one" ticket. Our club has 180 members unable to get a ticket unfortunately.

Hard luck Kerry. Huge congratulations to Tyrone and all Tyrone posters here. A brilliant achievement considering what ye have been through.
A strange game with a lot errors. Couldn't understand why Kerry kept running into trouble and taking the ball. into contact. I thought Tom O'Sullivan was imperious in the first half. He won every 50/50 ball.
The amount of turnovers Kerry conceded was shocking. They could not get their running game going for long passages in the game despite gaining so much possession from kickouts. I thought Morgan had a very patchy performance. McGeary was really impresssive!
jack Barry, Stephen O'Brien, Paul Geaney were quite poor I thought. Surely this is P Geaney's last season. Time to give K. Spillane a full game. Also , young Paul O Shea ought to get a start now too.
Kerry's much discussed defensive weaknesses were telling today.
Great to see a Tyrone/Mayo final.
May the best team win.

In fairness to Morgan he did score a 70m free and kept a clean sheet, did very well to out jump Clifford to punch clear ..poor David picked up an injury in that incident. Missed a 45m at the end which he would normally convert but at least it went dead as did his effort from close to the sideline. He was assured in possession and always available for an out pass whenever a turn over occurred. His worst error was an over ambitious fly kick over the sideline leading to a goal chance ,eventually leading to a point conceded from a 45m kick. The Kerry press up on his restarts was so effective that a short or medium kick was a risky gamble (think of Paul Duncan 2014) so he launched it long to and past midfield. This did favour Kerry but they often had to work it back to their own 65m before starting a slow build up. Not sure if Tyrone contested any of Kerry's kick out. Morgan is Tyrones best keeper and contemplating a change for the final would unhinge their defensive balance.

This is the final all the neutrals wanted. And me. When it comes to Mayo I'm never neutral!

Joking aside, this has the makings of a classic. The Mayo panel have developed a consistent reputation for physicality with great football, and I'd say they were licking their lips at the prospect of taking on Kerry, who have the football but arguably this squad has not developed the toughness. Yet. But now they're taking on the one team whose reputation for both qualities possibly outshines even their own. This could be a battle for the ages.

Of course I'm going to get behind the Connacht team, but truth be told, I'm delighted with both finalists and would be almost as happy to see Sam heading north, either way its going to the Saor Chlann.

Best of luck to both counties and their fans on these pages.

Can't wait.

This final is just a tremendous boost for Gaelic football across the island. That is not a slur on Dublin and Kerry who have tradition and greatness written through them like a stick of rock. I really hope Tyrone win but if Mayo triumph after years of heartache and so near but yet so far I'll raise a glass, congratulate them and toast their success.

I'm really looking forward to this novel-paired final.

AFAIK, it's only the sixth final ever out of 134, not to have a team from either Munster or Leinster involved it: 2002-Tyrone vs. Armagh; 1925-Galway vs. Cavan; 1933-Cavan vs Galway; 1943-Roscommon vs Cavan; 1948-Cavan vs Mayo.

While I'd dearly love to see Mayo win Sam, after all their previous heartbreak, I also have a very healthy respect for Tyrone football. It wouldn't bother me to see Sam go north either. So, may the team on the day, win it.

Replying To Ronan1989:  "The All-Ireland is coming back to Ulster. Tyrone doggedness and lack of pressure (beating Kerry is already bonus territory) will see them over the line.

Mayo already win their final a few weeks back and their mental weakness will show again."
Donegal begrudgery of Mayo is amazing. Have a little think about your own county's mental weaknesses over the last few years. Serial underachievers since 2012. Can't get to a final since 2014.

Replying To Ulsterman:  "Mayo will be massive favourites for this. Tyrone will have their backs to the wall, will be castigated by the Southern media and socdlked pundits. Mayo will also have the backing of everyone outside Ulster and Derry and Armagh will probably support Mayo too."
There's nothing like an Ulster chip... on the shoulder, and you carry the biggest one's going. Always the victim eh.

You're right, I don't believe Mayo ever were favourites in any of those finals but I can't imagine that complacency will come into this in any form.

Should be a cagey affair- like most Mayo v Tyrone meetings since 2004 really

Kerry were wide open in the centre back position
I would expect Mayo to play AOS in midfield dropping back into that position.

Can't see either full forward lines getting much joy the next day so it will be won in the middle eight.
Mayo and Tyrones half backs should dominate so will likely be won in midfield

I would fancy Matthew Ruane to be the key difference between the teams - mark him down for player of the year if he produces the goods in the final - I dont think Tyrone have a player to match him
