To be fair I don't think Mayo feared this particular Kerry team. Even with Clifford but I get your overall point. Tyrone a better team defensively than Kerry. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Haven't won a final in 70 years and have lost 10 since 1989. I don't think we even know what the word complacent means in terms of football matches in Croke Park. Unless I'm missing something like a new wave of Covid through the Tyrone camp this evening? maccoscair (Mayo) - Posts: 10 - 28/08/2021 19:12:23 2375604 Link 1 |
Genuinely have no idea. Anything could happen. Both teams will have no fear of each other, which may mean that both teams can play up to their potential. Either way, football's a winner already, with such a novel pairing in the final. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 28/08/2021 19:12:47 2375605 Link 6 |
50/50. Down to who's the most disciplined, and who wants it more. BeJasus (UK) - Posts: 383 - 28/08/2021 19:13:00 2375606 Link 0 |

Well were Mayo ever favorites going into any of those finals ? I doubt if they were, but they will be slight favorites now and that's what I mean by complacency. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 28/08/2021 19:22:20 2375612 Link 1 |
Sorry to disappoint you but everyone I know wanted tyrone to win today, and had kerry won today the whole country would have been against them in the final.

Tyrone don't give a shite who back or don't back them. They back themselves.

No way are Mayo getting complacent. The pressure might get to them but the young lads on the team for me are a huge benefit to them . Experience is great but with Mayo some of the more senior lads are carrying a lot of hurt- if they win I think it'll be the young lads getting them over the line

Congratulations to Tyrone. The Final should be awesome. Yes I'm pulling for Mayo due to their history but I have no problems with Tyrone. Best of luck to both teams. Hopefully it's a Classic. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2575 - 28/08/2021 19:58:32 2375654 Link 1 |
Honestly as the game went on today I didn't have a preference. You got to be careful what you wish for. Tyrone will be extremely difficult to beat. It will take a monumental effort for Mayo to win this final but we can do it. So can Tyrone and neither county will fear each other. Epic battle ahead. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11657 - 28/08/2021 20:02:42 2375657 Link 3 |
Tyrone just beat the favourites, and now play a team with a horrendous record in finals. But despite all here are the PP odds. Mayo 4/6 Tyrone 6/5, anybodies game but Mayo MUST win this! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8795 - 28/08/2021 20:09:18 2375664 Link 3 |
We have to believe now we can win this in September, although have to be given a lot of credit disposing of Dublin, mayo will certainly not fear Tyrone, I feel IMHO tyrone can win this one after today! But mayo are a dangerous team also and will be hungry Tyrone abu ta32 (Tyrone) - Posts: 4907 - 28/08/2021 20:22:26 2375678 Link 0 |
The goalkeeper Morgan is a liability for Tyrone.I wouldn't want him taking a free kick to save my life. Tyrone need to change their keeper for the Final. Mayo are favourites but it's really 50/50. Great chance for both counties to win an All Ireland.

Watching the game today I couldn't but wonder who had the covid outbreak it looked more like Kerry than Tyrone they were out on their feet at the end of normal time that's one area mayo will match Tyrone fitness and work rate also mayo wont fear Tyrone no baggage like against Kerry it's a mayo win by 1or2 points

Wouldn't disagree with your take on the actual final itself. But had Kerry managed to get over the line today even by a point or a late flukey goal they would be favs for the final. Today's game would have brought them on a lot - this was their first competitive game in the champo. Tyrone had their Ulster Champo games and played the final in Croker. But it's all ifs and buts at this stage - Mayo Tyrone is what we've got. timmyhogan (UK) - Posts: 290 - 28/08/2021 20:54:47 2375703 Link 0 |
He's a good goalkeeper. Only flaw is his kick outs. Inclined to have head staggers at times which effectively ended the final against Dublin in 2018. Was pretty good on them today, but against Mayo would be absolute suicide to not win at least 75% of own restarts. I'm sure that's something they can improve on which is actually a plus, as Tyrone are very good in most parts of the field. Will be interesting how that goes in the final. From a Kerry perspective, this final isn't really our problem. We blew it today. Good luck to those who are in it. You have to be in it to win it. plike (Kerry) - Posts: 569 - 28/08/2021 21:07:34 2375710 Link 3 |
I hope Tyrone win it I have always had a soft spot for them, think they have the better forwards..think they will have balls to see this through..will Horan have the same with O'shea something tells me he will bottle that call. Tyrone by 5. jacktheDub (Dublin) - Posts: 944 - 28/08/2021 21:18:46 2375711 Link 4 |
That's one thing we can be fairly sure of, tyrone (ulster teams in general), have never bottled a big game or shirked a big challenge, Croker holds no fear for them, if mayo win this they're going to have to do it the hard way. I really can't call it lol,,can't wait :) Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 28/08/2021 21:29:57 2375716 Link 1 |
