Not sure about 1974 I was only a kid but I remember 1983, queuing up for Hill 16 at 11.30am and the Galway supporters train had stopped on the bridge above us. There were cups of tea, sandwiches and whatever raining down on the Dublin fans. Not mentioned in the national media either, funny auld game!

I remember 1998 in Mayo very well and I can say truthfully that I never saw a Kildare flag or pillowcase (what sort of deluded nonsense?) Flying anywhere in mayo at the time. I have been reading the forums for a long while now and I feel that Galway contributers have become very bitter and even more deluded. Deluded in the sense that they see themselves as capable of competing with Mayo/Dublin/Kerry and seem to think every year that Sam will be coming home to Eyre Square. I don't see why, if you take Shane Walsh out of the current team they are no better than most of the teams in Leinster.

Can't understand why Kildare tried to do a Westmeath on Dublin and keep score respectable. At least Meath had a cut and apart from two very dodgy penalty calls game could have had a different result. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 06/08/2021 10:18:31 2368188 Link 0 |
1983! I wouldn't go there if I were you. A Galway player lying on the ground and one of your heroes kicking him in the head comes to mind - funny auld game indeed!

Are you referring to Kieran Duff? If so I'm delighted to be the one to enlighten you, and do away with that ignorance rattling around your head for the past 37-38 years Also to your fellow ignoranmious that liked your comment.. Behold the mighty truth..!! let it free you of your burden. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.balls.ie/amp/gaa/kieran-duff-dublin-laochra-gael-407149 "Duff was sent-off the in second half after appearing to aim a kick at the head of Pat O'Neill. The Galway player later admitted that Duff had not made contact with his head." jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 06/08/2021 11:43:26 2368208 Link 4 |

I will never stand over dirty play from any team including my own but the the Ciarán Duff incident is over exaggerated. Yes what he did was wrong no doubt but it was nt really a kick it was a flick of the leg not done in malice but more to get the player away from him. Stupid yes but not as bad as it looked and there was no contact made. The Galway player (O'Neill) admitted this afterwards. Duff got very bad press over this for years and it was hard on him.

I saw that program, total nonsense, revisionism of the worst kind and O Neill being coaxed to go along with the sanctification of Duff. Laoch gael mo leath deiridh! Peileadóir maith ach peileadóir brocach!

I know Dessie Farrell had a thankless job coming in after Jim Gavin but the Philly McMahon story is a bit strange. Doing an interview with the media saying he doesn't know whether he will be involved against Mayo and will have to speak to Dessie and to Bohs to see what will happen. This and the Cluxton story are definitely a sign that the current management don't have the same control over the players when it comes to the media. You're such a sanctimonious, arrogant, self-righteous, deluded keyboard licker that you actually believe I care about how you feel about me! I'll waste no more on this nonsense.

Is deacair liom a chreidiúint go ndéarfadh bainisteoir a leithéid, má dúirt ba shuarach é a bhealach agus a bhéal!

It's interesting though. 2 of the older stalwarts of the last decade are the 2 causing a bit of a stir.

Philly also did an interview with Midwest radio. I only caught a snippet but thought it was a bit bizarre going on Mayo local radio unless he was one to talk about his charity work? He mentioned the game and the Mayo crowd...colour, atmosphere etc. Anyone catch the full interview?

All is not well in the Dublin camp, that breaking the lockdown rules and being caught training early in the year too wouldn't have happened under Gavin imo. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3187 - 06/08/2021 16:51:48 2368278 Link 0 |
