Dubs V Mayo

Replying To AfricanGael:  "Maybe if counties like Kildare who have a far bigger population than Mayo and was never ravaged by emigration upped their game you might not have to listen to all the hype about Mayo every year.

Kildare cant even win a Provincial title never mind compete in the All-Ireland series but yet you feel it's ok to criticize a much smaller county for coming so close to beating "the greatest team ever".

I think there is such a thing as being a very unlucky team and unfortunately Mayo fall into that category and that is a far more formidable foe to defeat and the more losses you have it's bound to add pressure, so it's a vicious circle.

I wish every county in Ireland had a team like Mayo and had such a loyal mass support, then we would really have a Championship to be proud of, so maybe there's a bit of envy creeping in there and the easiest thing to do is take cheap shots while ignoring their own counties failures, as clearly displayed by yourself, on a regular basis.

Real football people don't judge teams or players the way you do."
Well said.

Theres no blame to Mayo for having lost so many chances. We must give credit to both Mayo and Dublin. Mayo, because they have succeeded in getting so close more than any other team. And Dublin, because they have put themselves simply beyond the reach of everybody. No matter how great the challenge they have that confident physicality necessary to win a game in the 75th minute. They have done it to Mayo more often because Mayo got there more often. But they have done it to others too. For the vast majority of counties, for various reasons, it is almost impossible to even to get to that level. Unfortunately.

Replying To 97Cavans:  "Is there a psychologist in with Mayo background team? That's a genuine question nothing disrespectful. Maybe that is what is needed to get Mayo to the next level. I see Ciaran McDonald seems to have become more outspoken on the sideline, I'm sure he has some football brain"
Mayo have had a Psychologist with them for years. A few different ones. Horan had Kieran Shannon with him in his first stint. Rochford had one with him as well. If only it was that simple!

Sure Jimbo has been trying to conside defeat before every game this year. According to him every game is a "bonus" afterwards.

Replying To foreveryoung:  "Don't agree at all. Over the last 6 years the Dubs were there to be caught. Mayo had them on the hook a couple of times but just failed to reel them in. As did Kerry in 2019. I know it's water under the bridge now, but Paudie Clifford was the best club player in Kerry in 2019 (and 2020 also). Yet he was left out of the county squad that year. Had he been involved, there may have been no 5-in-a-row. So tight were the margins in the 2019 drawn game, that one player, a man like Paudie Clifford could have swung it Kerry's way. He's playing now and getting the player of the game in every game. He was no less a player two years ago, and on fire in the club championship. But that's all speculation now.

And posters like yourself and a few Kerry lads may I mention, are defeated ever before a ball is thrown in, becoz your team is playing against the big, bad, blue monster. Ye remind me of villagers in fairytales who were afraid that the big dragon would come down from the mountain and eat them up, except then the dragon was red."
Think you are spot on there Forever, i think Paudie is the brain and legs that Kerry forward line has needed. Hes the enabling factor for me that unlocked the potential in that Kerry team. Fair play to Keane, hes identified his mistake and rectified it, takes a big man to do that. Paudie is one of the reasons i think Kerry will win this year. Sometimes that one player of the right fit makes all the difference. I think him being able to bring others into play has taken the heat of David and allowed Kerry to be more varied, while that said he knows David inside out. Hes been a super addition for Kerry. The missing piece as the crow flies, though be interesting to see how it goes now at the next level in the All Ireland series, looking good though.

They're crying in the hogan, they're silent in the hill....

Dublin are going to lay down a big marker to put to bed this chat about them losing their touch.
Expect Dublin to win with at least 8 to spare.

A bit like Donaghy, came from the shadows and transformed the team.

Also for the record. For someone who thinks they're ahead of the curve you've acknowledged that Jimbo has been saying Dublin haven't a hope all season in another post:)

50/50 game for me, i think Mayo have a wonderful chance, Meath show if you bring the intensity you can rattle the DU6s. No one bring intensity like the Mayo.

Best team will win, but very little in it.

Ye Galway lads love making up songs about us ;)

Ah sure we are long past crying at this stage....if we loose again...yes disappointed but it will be a case of getting up and going at it again next year. Galway have much bigger problems.

If Galway get a decent management team in sooner rather than later we will be just fine. If we had have had a capable management team we would have won connacht this year , ifs and buts... candy and nuts.

Not too often your football fans get into the Hogan or the Hill.. want directions on which entrance to take outside?
